Three from the last two weeks
1) Smashing Pumpkins @ the Big Top, Luna Park, Sydney
2) Soundgarden @ the Big Top, Luna Park, Sydney
3) Incubus @ the Enmore, Sydney
Been a good couple of weeks around town. Corgan in unusually good spirits. Soundgarden, heavy as ever, and Incubus for Mrs Cheddar.
Additional fun in the shape of a few bevvies with Taylor and Dave from the Foo Fighters. My life sucks.

No mate, my work is very boring. Probably the most boring job in the world, particularly as I am a frustrated musician who never made the grade. Happy with it though as my friends did ok, leaving me to experience some pretty cool stuff, without the cocaine and moneySadact7 wrote:What do you do Ed Ched-O, music journo?EddieCheddar wrote:Three from the last two weeks

Cool. I'm always amused by people who define themselves by their work.EddieCheddar wrote:No mate, my work is very boring. You should define yourself by what you do in your personal time and work is just a necessity to ensure you can remain in a position to do those things and be that person.

Wise words, Sadd-O, but we all spend a lot of time at work, so it is understandable how some people get a bit carried away with the career stuff. Nivver been my cup of tea, despite my friends and families view that I am a corporate wanker. If only they knew the truth.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, The Sage
For a guy pushing 60, his voice is phenomenal. The sound quality was spot on, as were all the piano driven songs - Black Hair & The Ship Song in particular were staggering. A brilliant gig.

Morrissey- Sydney Opera House, Wednesday night.
Crowd were shit, as per Australian audiences. A very subdued Mozza, and a pretty under par performance. The voice is still there and I am going back for more tomorrow night in the hope he bucks his fucking ideas up. Can't be as dull as Wednesday as a Saturday crowd in Sydney equals pissed up wankers heckling at every opportunity

Re: Gigs You've Been To
Damien Rice.
Spent my late teens/early 00s? listening to O and at one point probably knew almost every lyric on that record. 9 Crimes was a bit of a dissapointment, and he kinda fell off the radar a bit in my listening, but went to see him last week. His new record My Faded Fantasy is really, really good and more similar to 0.
Tremendous gig. He was funny and blethered on a bit between songs, but an excellent performance and played tons of songs, took requests too, and even at the time I was sick of it being overplayed on Virgin Radio and so on, but was disappointed not to hear Cannonball after a 10 (fuck, time does fly!) absence.
Don't know if half of it was nostaliga to a better time, but yeah, good times.
9/10.

I see Starsailor are back together for a tour later in the year. I quite fancy that. A band that never quite hit the big time but showed early promise.

Re: Gigs You've Been To
Brian Wilson cancelled. That's the third cry-off I've had this year after Black Keys and Foo Fighters.
A bit gutted about this one though as probably would've been the last chance to see Bri live and sounds like a bit of a half-arsed excuse.

Re: Gigs You've Been To
Just re-reading this thread, no gigs recently, a few upcoming, mostly old timers reliving the good times for coin, but interested, thursty old friend, what's the score here on page 3 with the edit six months after? Especially as Sadact quoted you 3 posts later:

Blur- Sydney Entertainment Centre.
Good mix of hits, obscurities and new material. Damon Albarn at the top of his game as too were Coxon and Rowntree. Alex James is a bit of a tit, but we always knew that. Not quite gig of the year, but a good night out all the same.
