That is not the issue.
The question is whether they HAVE been.

It just means that people have different opinions, Hillman, not that the bias is necessarily imagined.

The salient point is though, that all media output is biased, given the necessity of human input, - and the BBC has an impossible (literally) task to fulfil its remit.

Re: Last night's Question Time
Surprisingly watchable QT tonight (given the lineup of the panel on paper), - Isabel Oakshott is the very definition of the phrase 'not just a pretty face', - she annihilated that idiotic thornberry character on a couple of occasions.
A nice line also from a member of the audience, - after the thornberry thing made some inane question about whether us brexiters voted to take our neighbours' jobs (whatever that meant) - the woman in the audience said "no, - I voted to take away your job".
The editor of the Independent was also (surprisingly) sensible.

The woman should have said she voted to give her a job. Westminster was just a puppet show going through the motions
while the EU was pulling the strings. Now our politicians have to actually run things .

And thus far their attempts to "run things" are resembling the captain of the Titanic running around like a headless chicken, re-arranging the deckchairs.
i.e. they haven't a clue what to do about the approaching iceberg.
It beggars belief there are people still deluded enough to think this Brexit bollox is a good thing.
But they soon will start to wonder when they are paying more for their groceries and the mortgage rate starts climbing again.

It's about time the mortgage rate did rise again. Responsible people who only buy what they can afford, have been shafted long enough with low interest rates.Petingo wrote:

Re: Last night's Question Time
At the risk of repeating myself , I've said for a long time most politicians only have equality and other egalitarian policies to concern themselves with. As soon as they find themselves neck deep in something that requires more than just a show of fake of concern for society they are completely lost. No wonder they like the idea of the EU doing all the hard work by setting policy and law and no wonder the EU took such huge advantage in grabbing as much power as they did.
It's no surprise either that the same lot still harp on about those who voted to leave the union are racists, xenophobes, little Englanders and all the other insults they use daily.
Brexit is probably going to be a right fucking mess that no one properly understands and this is because we allowed nothing but egalitarian politicians to be handpicked by their respective parties and parachuted into safe seats to act on matters they previously felt comfortable with. Now that's totally changed and we need statesmen/ women to handle it and suddenly we find we haven't got any.

The low interest rates shaft savers, not borrowers. And when they go up, all borrowers, however prudent, pay more.
Yes there will be people who can''t afford it..and they maybe made poor decisions when they borrowed. But if they are subject to repossession, see what that does to the value of your house when there's a repossession for sale up the road. I can remember that from the early 90s as the harvest from Thatcher's "reform" of financial services started to come in.
The problem at least as much is the preparedness of lenders to lend and the extent to which their decisions considered how resilient the borrower would be to a rise in rates.

That is it In a nutshell, Mark.
Irrespective of whether or not we agree with Brexit.....I think we can all agree, because we are seeing it unfold before our very eyes, we do not possess the quality of leadership in this country to oversee such a drastic and momentous change.
That is why I took the "better the devil you know" approach to Brexit.
I refused to play chicken with my children's future and my own economic well being.
Like most of us on here, I have far too much to lose to risk it all on the throw of the dice from a well heeled elite with delusions of grandeur and whom will not feel the economic chill if this all goes pear shaped.....which it appears to be at the moment.
Farage, Johnson, Davies.......they are totally cocooned against the harsh realities ordinary wage slaves will face in hard times.
The way the pound is going interest rates are sure to rise and despite one of our most esteemed friends on here dismissing that prospect on the grounds that it is about time they did rise, the majority of us on here will be adversely affected when the inevitable happens.
And this is just the start.
The economy was just recovering after years of austerity and recession, now we have this looming crisis.
Saints alive, talk about shooting ourselves in the foot
Alex Young, Howard Kendall, Andy King, Timmy Cahill, Dixie Dean and Mike Parry.....we'll never see the likes of them again.

Re: Last night's Question Time
I'd say it was pretty easy to follow. People work hard, well some do, to make a better life for themselves and their families. They live responsibly within their means, buy what they can afford, when they can afford it and don't borrow recklessly. They save for the future, and for the last eight years or so they have been shafted up the arse, whilst those who live above their means and want something before they can afford it have been coddled.Hillman avenger wrote:I don't follow that.Zambo wrote:It's about time the mortgage rate did rise again. Seems a lot but in the context of government spending a tiny amount.
But the bailing out of Greece and Italy ( and for that matter, Spain) was down to the euro countries. We were out of that.
As for what you pay in taxes, it pays for far more than the welfare state. Defence, health, justice, borders and transport would be examples.
And BTW people in France Germany and the Benelux on the whole pay more in tax than we do.

We now have the opportunity to reduce taxes and wasteful spending by 4 tiers of redundant public employees and let people decide how they want to spend the money they earn instead of some rich fat socialist .

Quite an entertaining QT tonight for a change, - the panel is largely useless, and the farron quisling is unwatchable, but the part I've seen so far has a fairly feisty audience putting the elite in their place.

Proof that the BBC show "repeats". Traitors like Farron spouting their anti-democratic bile and the London Pro-Eu twats in the seats
clapping like trained seals in the audience. An insult to seals who have more independent thought.
Biased cunt Dimbleby even reading from a Brexit leaflet . Why don't they just rename themselves the EUBC ?
