Re: Fitness Trackers
I agree with the OP.
I got my fitbit blaze a few weeks ago - I had used the withings but the goal setting wasn't so good and this constantly measures the calories you've burned which I've found has focussed my mind on the only way to lose weight, take in less calories than you burn, so I'm watching what I eat a lot more and ignoring any hunger pangs that used to see me reaching for snacks.
My minimum step count is now 15,000 a day but I'll often get to more than 20,000. I've noticed that if I'm 1,000 steps off a big target I'll get up and walk around the house until I've clocked them up.
I've lost just shy of 3KG so far, but more than that I've found that by being more active it's done wonders for my back, I've not had any backache for a couple of weeks now.
The dog is a lot happier too as I'm much more keen to take him out for a long walk.

Good work, HITUSA, keep it up.
I went to buy some new trunks for my upcoming holiday and was pleasantly surprised to see the standard fat boy sizes are not longer my size. Granted I am down to a large bit better than the 2XB that was rapidly heading toward 3X.
It's a sad reflection of our society when we see sizes going lot up as high as 5X

That's great. I just upped my steps to 15,000 a day. My blaze Is a fantastic motivation tool. Many times I get home and think I will give steps a miss then I start looking at my steps and where I stand in the challenges which gets me of my arse.colinthewarriormonkey wrote:I agree with the OP.

Yesterday someone at work took a photo of me and did a side by side with a photo from earlier in the year just before I started to lose weight. I was one fat bastard. Still overweight but getting smaller.

Fitness Trackers
Have been wearing a fitness tracker for the last 7 months - Up 3.
It's been a great motivational tool. I've lost 50lbs and moved from a 40" waist to a 34" waist. Now within 4lbs of my target weight.
Absolutely recommended for anyone who enjoys (and can keep to) target setting.
Apologies for using old money.

Fantastic, Moby. Hope you have done a typical before and after photo shoot with your old fat trousers.

Re: Fitness Trackers
Purchased a Fitbit today.
Have put on some weight in the months leading up to & after my operation as exercise was impossible.
Can't cycle until September at the earliest, so I'm going to use the Fitbit to try to get in to some sort of shape by walking as much as possible.

Re: Fitness Trackers
I am now officially 50 pounds lighter.
I have started running, it was only 60 second bursts at first which nearly killed me but now up to 18 minutes. Doing the Indy MinivMarathon next year so I need to up my game considerably.

Re: Fitness Trackers
What would some of you recommend for me.
The draw backs are that my right knee is fucked, and I find myself limping much of the time.
My right arm is now also buggered, so not only has my sex life taken a massive hit, i have a weak painful grip and, at the minute anyway, find it very sore to lift or put any appreciable strain on it.
This seems to rule out cycling (which I used to love to do moderately) & any weights, though I still might try a bit of cycling as I think my knee in spite of everything, could do with some building up.
Since wrecking my arm a few months ago, I have tried to watch and cut down on what I eat and walk as much as I can, knee permitting, and have lost about 3/4s of a stone, but I would like to try some moderate regime to complement this and generally build up fitness if I can.
I do work a rotating shift pattern and dont really want to join any gyms or anything - so something at home whenever I get the time is what I need. And something that won't aggrevate my , leg, arm and back......did I mention I have long standing sciatica issues?
Fuck me, I'm nearing Steve Hunt levels of eyeball on a cushion.

Knees, they (NHS) can generally fix if you need a new or partially new one....get on the list if that's what you need. Otherwise like most diets it's a form of calorie restriction say no carbs like Atkins or a variation of...good for initial weight loss not always great for the longer term.

Its fucked from that blood poisoning in my leg from a few years ago and I was told that it was just going to get worse, but as Antdad has said, I am on the list for replacement of some sort though its many years away as the doctor told me that due to the short life of a replacement that they leave it till the latest possible . I'll have to be virtually crippled before they even think of doing any replacement.
Arm wise, after ripping some muscles in it an accident at work in May, its still sore a lot of the time but I can feel improvement. Its a lot better than say , a month ago.
