Going to Sufjan Stevens in Madrid in September. No I'm straight. I don't support Arsenal either [SMILING FACE WITH SMILING EYES]

Re: Gigs You've Been To
David Gilmour, Brighton Centre.
All sorts of stuff going on to stop touting. Everyone in group of ticketholders had to enter together, had to show ID, etc.
Show was good. Two and a half hours of new/old solo stuff and plenty of Floyd classics. His voice was excellent too which sometimes isn't always the case for old timers.
Glad to have seen one of the last few acts I still wanted to see.

Re: Gigs You've Been To
It is - 1985 I think it was. They headlined an anti-herion show at crystal palace and dame Vera was wheeled out for the finale.
Two funniest things on the day were some hippy known as Jesus diving in the lake in front of the stage and having to be rescued and some massive punk guy with a failing Mohican careering around the crowd area totally out of it with the biggest bag of glue I ever saw.

Went to see The Darkness last night for my missus' birthday at Norwich UEA. Started really well but halfway through I remembered why Justin Hawkins is a proper bell-end and must be a complete arse to deal with.
I wish I was a Sainsbury's delivery driver.

Elton John, Hope Estate, Hunter Valley. One for Mrs Cheddar. Not for me Beeky, although the venue and cheap Wine made it less objectionable

I might go and see def leppard and whitesnake next Saturday at the Birmingham Nec. I usually prefer smaller more intimate gigs though, where you feel close to the band.

Best gig this year was seeing The Replacements on their brief reunion tour. They split up again just days later so could well be a one time thing. Amazing band.

Re: Gigs You've Been To
What were your thoughts on the NEC? I've been twice and hated both times and vowed never to go again. I suppose when used as an exhibition centre it's great, but as a music venue its awful. The acoustics are beyond shit and 90% of the seats are too far away from the stage.theleader82 wrote:I'm on my way to nec to whitesnake and def leppard. Might go and see Elo and manics next year

Re: Gigs You've Been To
That was the first time I'd been. I'm agree the sound wasn't great, it's probably a bit better at the 02 in London, the new is the easiest for me to get to as its direct on the train. I prefer to watch bands in smaller venues in general.LaaLaa wrote:What were your thoughts on the NEC? I've been twice and hated both times and vowed never to go again. I'd no idea they were still going. Is the guitarist still morbidly obese?theleader82 wrote:I went to see bowling for soup last night at the brum o2. A good show.
I was bummed by the ghost of Liberace

Yep. Surprised he's still alive. The singer has blown up to a similar size now as well. I liked them in my student days. It was sold out surprisingly.Sadact7 wrote:I'd no idea they were still going. Bruce Springsteen at Hampden Park yesterday. Phenomenal, fantastic and wonderful but enough about me.
What a night it was. The man is peerless and I love him in a non-biblical sense.

I'm going to see the offspring next Sunday in Birmingham and the goo goo dolls in a couple of months, then 3 doors down in October. Some good gigs coming up for once.

Re: Gigs You've Been To
Do you recommend the Go Goo Dolls, my good man? They're on in Las Vegas when I'm there on holiday. They'll be supported by two other bands I've never heard of - Tribe Society and Collective Soul.theleader82 wrote:I'm going to see the offspring next Sunday in Birmingham and the goo goo dolls in a couple of months, then 3 doors down in October.
