Cheers Mark, Good idea on the reduced options, may look into that. Have friends who have had all those models and all were happy. One old friend was a serious cyclist had the loveliest bike I've seen and rode, a Cannondale, bewtiful Mike. Often fancied a Marin as well. Will get looking.Steve Hunt wrote:They are called road bikes these days, Carlos.Carlos J wrote: quite like the idea of getting a racer or should it be road bike (?) again.
Now is the time to buy, as the 2016 models come out. You should be able to get quite a reduction on 2015 models.
Have a look at the Evans & Chain Reaction websites.
Specialized, Giant & Trek are best makes, imo.
Do not go down the Halfords/Boardman route - inferior and overpriced.

Top bike, dreamed about it for months before I got it... modded mine a bit with different grips, stunt nuts and such. Mine had the "teardrop" tubing which was awesome for some reason.
Happy days!

If Arsenal were playing in my back garden, I would draw the curtains.

Re: Your favourite bike
Dawes and Claude Butler were always the bikes spoke about when I were a lad, and if you had campagnolo gears on either you were the biz. No idea if they are still around today.

Indeed - Dawes tend to specialize in making good touring bikes these days. The Ghost of Alex Higgins wrote:Sort of but shit has moved on a fuckload since then
Claud Butler still going strong, but nothing special anymore.
