If it's personal keep it to yourself.
I just forked out for the wee girls joint 16th birthday/finished her GCSEs trip to Ibiza which she is taking next week. The car needs a bit of a buggering about with to just pass the MOT and neither me and my missus has a valid passport at the minute and thats the guts of 200 quid right there too. The two of us hope to get a long weekend in London or Edinburgh or somewhere in the autumn though.

and tranquil
Cape Cornwall - scenery breathtaking
Minack theatre - ancient open air in the rocks. Caribbean
standard beach
Penzance - 100 times better than Newquay

Base Truro
Port Isaac
Treyarnon Bay
Newquay
Lands End
Cape Cornwall
Minack Theatre
Penzance
Marazion (Ben's Kitchen)
St Ives
Lost Gdns of Heligan
Readymoney Cove
Trebah Gdns
Pendennis Castle
Lanhydrock House/Gdns
I went 3 weeks ago
I walk to the Cheesewrings from the village of Minions (The minions came and changed the sign the day before we got there - great for the kids they loved having their picture taken with it) they also have 3 circles of standing stones.
If your missus enjoyed Poldark, it's worth going round the locations of where they filmed it. All easily found on the internet - I didn't watch it, but have started to watch it now so I can see the places we'd been.
Boscastle is lovely, the witch museum is there which is very interesting - if you look at the very old building opposite the witch museum you will see the finest example of a newbuild anywhere - The original got washed away in the floods 10 years ago.
Padstow is pretty as is St Michaels Mount
Tintagel castle is glorious on a sunny day.
Go to Retallack resort and spa and have a go on the flowrider - and artificial wave, great fun £25 for the hour with an instructor, I was standing up by the end of the first lesson. Then have Dinner in their "green room" restaurant. Superb food from an ex masterchef winner.
We stayed there in one of the lakeside houses, it was absolutely superb, even had a hot tub on the balcony, I'd happily live in one of those.
IF you haven't booked anywhere to stay you couldn't do better location wise, it's near pretty much everything - the furthest place away was lands end and that only took us an hour but padstow, boscastle, newquay, charlestown all about 15 minutes from it.
http://www.retallackresort.co.uk/
Don't go to Lands End - it's shit.
There was something windswept and interesting about it when it was just a signpost and fuck all else, you really did get the feeling that you were at the end of the country, now they've built a shitty tourist area with crappy souvenir shops and shitty cafe restaurant type places there's even a shaun the sheep experience - which granted you'll like, but it's got fuck all to do with Lands end.
The whole place is just tacky, even the kids thought it was shit.

Thanks Col, there now, two days in. Did Port Isaac on the
way down and Treyarnon Bay on way down, and did most
of south yesterday, Cape Cornwall, Marazion, St Ives,
etc. St Austell and Falmouth areas today.
LE was better than expected, quiet, sunny and still
Staying at accommodation recommended by Lenny Henry.

The Quayside at Charlestown doesn't need any imagination to see what it would have looked like 200 years ago, probably why they used it on Poldark.
Cant recommend the green room at retallack resort enough - superb food at incredibly reasonable prices (posh pub in southern england prices - but would make your eyes water if you had to pay for it in London)

Is there much to do in Holyhead/Bangor area? Thinking now of Liverpool/north Wales then across to Dublin for two nights.
Some of the scenery looks stunning. That wee bit of land down the north west coast too Aberdaron etc - wee Welsh towns/villages. - 75% Welsh speaking too.

Caernarfon is OK, nice position on the menai straits, pubs with views, excellent castle.
Lots of nice places on Anglesey: Beaumaris well worth a visit, as is Rhosneigr, Red Wharf Bay, Amlwch.. North wales is fucking mint.
I released the blob must to my darkest dread
But its mint choc chip which is the ice cream flavour of Satan's spermatozoa
Careful now, you’re being beastly to Leado and this canno he totlerated.
About to get underway at the Berbabeu

Re: Holiday Thread
Come inland a bit if you fancy a bit of climbing or hill walking. You're not far away from Snowdonia national park. If you're driving or otherwise able to plan your own route across from Liverpool then try and go via Betws-y-Coed which is further inland but well worth a few hours.kevin04 wrote:Is there much to do in Holyhead/Bangor area?
