Re: Sub....tu es Le sommelier
Which one, Pet?
Bourgogne?
Alsace?
Generally, I think they're excellent, both in terms of quality and value.
While I like Champagne, too often it's overpriced, whereas Crémant is good-value fizz that is several notches above most cava and Prosecco.
Have only been to one CdBourgogne producer, and their wines were delicious, and only about a tenner in the UK, IIRC.
I would also try Oz/Kiwi fizz if you find any, Pet. Some of them are excellent, and again, great value

Have had the odd dodgy one in the past, but all the ones we've had over here have been great - lovely with a plate of grilled sardines or shellfish. You need something clean and zingy with oily fish and Vinho Verde works a treat

close the window and take a ride
i've got a place to go
there's nowhere to hide

It is how to do it without appearing to be perving is the question

Re: Sub....tu es Le sommelier
This is the only fizz you'll need
Far superior to most Champagnes I've tried (I don't drink cheap champagne, I'd rather have a good cava or prosecco )
between 9.99 and 12.99 a bottle only at Majestic - IF you can find it. As soon as it comes in it sells out very quickly indeed.

Sub......what the heck is White Merlot?
Someone gave me a bottle for Christmas.
What type of dishes does it accompany?
We are on pasta tonight.......would it work with that?

Never heard of it, Pet.Petingo wrote:Sub......what the heck is White Merlot?

But it will either be one of those 'blush' wines, like white Zinfandel (ie a sweet rose), or a white wine where they extract the juice without leeching any colour from the skins.
Re the pasta, depends what you're adding to it!
If it is a rose wine, I wouldn't pair that with meat, unless it was white meat.

I heard her mention pancetta.
I suppose that is more white meat than red.

Technically yes, as it's pork, but quite full-flavoured and fatty, so quite rich.Petingo wrote:I heard her mention pancetta.

I would just drink red wine with it
