Horologists

Post by Arty Morty »

I quite fancy getting myself a new watch and have my eye on something from the Casio Edifice range. Anyone got one or can recommend something similar? I prefer leather straps, analogue dials and a chronograph

I find that pretty well all watches do one thing and one thing only - tell the time.

That's why I've never paid more than 30 quid for one.

Yep, same here. Got an Accurist which I have had for ages. Never have to change it until the battery runs out.

Here's the go to man for watches, Arty: http://www.talkforum.co.uk/memberlist.p ... le&u=21314

Not sure how often he comes this far south, but gave me some good advice on an old Tag. Will PM him. But his watch taste, unlike ladies, HJ, is quite expensive.

Casio Edifice is a nice watch at that price range also look at Seiko such as the SNA411 or SSC009P2

Citizen Skyhawk and Navihawk ranges are fun although more expensive

I always buy a watch with a bracelet, as long as it has a standard fitting onto the watch you can take it off and play around with different leather straps and still have the bracelet if you fancied a change

Mrs. Kite: From what I can see, the only time you ever jolly well *do* any work is when you're on strike.

The best watches I've ever owned were made by Timex. Mrs S doesn't like me wearing them, or asking for a new one for Christmas, due to the bitterness felt towards the company after they closed their Dundee factory.

The old Scottish made Timex mechanicals will run for ever and don't need much in the way of servicing. I have a couple myself somewhere.

You should wear them with pride for what once was and not what happened

My ancient Tag Heuer with its wonky clasp is the only thing that separates me from any other tosser imho .. although I'm still very much Steve Mcqueen 'Bullet' era. 'There's just summink different about him' .. I overhear that like every day tbf
It's only a watch pffft !

McQueen's watch in Bullit was a blue faced Heuer Monaco not a Tag Heuer branded re-released version
