Chris....message boards are not an exercise in democracy.

They exist at the pleasure of the board owner.

Ergo elections for Moderators are a recipe for disaster IMO.......someone who vociferously campaigned against a chap who had been elected might find himself on the sharp end of the red pointy thing a sight too often. Or he would perceive that to be the case, even if it wasn't so.

Whoever owns the board appoints them as he thinks are best suited to the task.

Having set terms sounds a good idea in theory but if you had a Moderator who was working well why change it?

But keep your ideas coming because we, and other moderates among the silent majority of posters on here, need to get involved now in this debate otherwise the various, more vociferous factions....."cliques" as it were :) ......will continue to set the agenda.
Alex Young, Howard Kendall, Andy King, Timmy Cahill, Dixie Dean and Mike Parry.....we'll never see the likes of them again.

No, that wouldn't be right, not even for a month, Pet.

The rules are laid out for all users and a majority of users obey those rules. If some continually break those rules, ignore repeated warnings, and are still incapable of moderating their own forum behaviour, then they've no one to blame but themselves when banned. They aren't kids.

Rescinding bans is a green light for yet more bad behaviour; the sort of behaviour the mods and forum owner would like to see less of.

The issue here is the behaviour of the mods, two in particular, not the behaviour of the posters.

No matter how much guilt you might call on the part of others, it portrays no innocence on your own account. Your constant finger pointing at other forum users is beyond tedious.

Perhaps if I wasn't trolled so mercilessly over such a long period of time by mods and others things might have been different, who knows?

All know is, I only acted in retaliation.
