12 nights in Vegas? Fair play Shedders, you have a stronger constitution than me.

I did three days there in December 2013 and felt it was more than enough. I went to California for the week after that.

I did like Vegas but it was a batshit crazy place. The Venetian (where I stayed) was lovely.

Is that a annual ritual to Vegas?
It's getting that way. I think it's only one year since 2005 that we didn't go.

We have thought about going elsewhere in the States but we always come back to "But that means we can't do Vegas as well."

Next year we're thinking about New Orleans but we also have friends in Wilmington, NC we'd like to visit. There's also an escorted tour of Memphis, New Orleans and Nashville we're considering.

But that means we can't afford to do Vegas as well.

I was looking at the Tenerife Sensatori for october then for giggles I thought I'd find out how much a week in vegas would be.

2 suites in the Venetian would work out to be cheaper than Tenerife.

Just a shame my wife is refusing to go as she hates Las Vegas with a passion.

I'll just take my boys when they're older.

I spent six weeks driving from New Orleans to San Francisco back in 2002. Didn't go where you are, but I loved not having a plan and deciding on the day with my road atlas of the states. The best bits for me were the one horse towns where they never get any visitors. Didn't enjoy the cities as much. I had a wonderful time. Would go back again, and would love to go to Maine. Think you might be able to get there from Port Angeles depending on time. It's supposed to be glorious.

I thought it was the other side! I loved monument Valley. Preferred it to Grand Canyon to be honest. Mind you I was brought up on Westerns.

We loved Lee Vining with the Ghost town of Bodie close by... Then up through the Sierras on the Tioga pass road and a stop in Mariposa... Lone Pine is great too as the gateway to Death Valley...

Jerome is also awsome if you want one horse town USA...

Be there in a few weeks :D
