Well on the Thronecast show the other week - yes, I'm sad enough to watch that - Sue Perkins said that the guy who plays Podrick told her after the show that episode 10 will break the internet.. I wonder if thats what happens.

I saw that alright. I think several events are going to combine to cause that effect.

Shireen dying would turn a lot of show watchers off I think because they've built her character up a lot more on the show. I'll keep watching to the bitter end because I want to see how it ends and will get an ending on the show before the books. But I would honestly be very upset about it. I'd rather they hadn't given her all the extra scenes if that was the plan all along, though maybe that's why they gave her the extra scenes  Tommen and Myrcella are probably doomed as well.

PS: I avidly watch Thronecast Bas, don't you worry about that!

Sue Perkin's inadvertant 'wizard's sleeve' comment was quite funny the other week. And the Beckham voiced tall Tyrion looky likey who was told by that Jamie East fella to stop talking because he was spoiling it.

Ha ha yes, wizard's sleeve wizard's sleeve, wizard's sleeve...there's been a few dodgy moments with it this year so it's been good fun. Iwan Rheon was either high or pissed or both when he appeared early on in the series.

I generally think Sue Perkins is on too many shows (remember when she and that prat Giles Coren were eating their way through the entire history of the world in food fuck orrrfff) but she's been good on this. She's very quick to react to things.

Yeah, I posted about that at the time  . Like Sinbad in his coked up 80s pomp, he was, but without the rumoured toilet beastliness. I didnt realise how Welsh he was, very Welsh, very very Welsh, look you. Thats how I picture Rainbowmonkey in my head now.

 I had a quick look through the thread before I made my triumphant return but I must have missed your post about that.

Ramsay is a lot worse in the books but I have to give credit to Rheon for putting his own stamp of goggle eyed crazy on the show version.

My favourite scenes though are when Roose is putting him back in his box...like when he was cheerfully explaining "How I Met Your Mother" to him. Even Ramsay looked appalled..

I agree.

I've never been one for extended action sequences, although I appreciate that they have to get their money's worth in the big expensive set-pieces.

It's the character stuff that I like, and the dialogue.

(Although there don't seem to be many funny lines any more.) :|

You're both right.

While the action sequences were visually impressive (except for some of the skeletons which looked a bit Jason and the Argonauts), they tend to wash over you with the sheer amount going on.

For me best bit was when everything went eerily silent and the dead very calmly rose to their feet. Was an effective set piece and juxtaposed beautifully with the previous 15 minutes of mayhem.

The acting is so good, and so subtle, I often rewind just to watch a glance, or watch the reactions to a comment, which are often very significant.

it really is superb at times.

Re: Game of Thrones Season 5

i'm not that keen on the battle sequences. You can usually tell they had to stint on the budget. Big budget by TV standards but they're never going to be able to match films and at this stage I'm watching each episode of GoT like it's a film. Though Blackwater was a fucking brilliant piece of TV, for me it was more about the claustrophobia of the setting, and the way it moved around all the different characters like Cersei getting sloshed and Sansa thinking her life couldn't get any worse (oops). The fighting itself was pretty tame and they admitted afterwards that they filmed it in the dark to save money. And Battle of the Wall was bigged up as being amazing and again it was in the fecking dark.

But Hardhome was so gripping, probably the best action sequence to date. First time I ever gave zero shits about the Wildlings too even after 2+ seasons of being hammered over the head with the Greatest Love Story Ever Terrrld.

And not only was the action thrilling but the last scene was freaky as fuck :prayer: :prayer: :prayer:

You're were right re the dialogue though. Some of the little one liners in earlier series were fantastic, but they seem to not bother writing them anymore

I saw something interesting elsewhere online. It might be a bit of a spoiler and then again it might not but I'll put it in tags anyway. If youve read the books you might know what this means, if you haven't read them then dont read the spoiler.
Spoiler:
On Sunday imdb had the cast up for the last 2 episodes and Michelle Fairley (Caitlyn Stark) was listed in the cast. The name was quickly removed.
