Small Heath Alliance vs Aston Villa

Post by kancutlawns »

Actually looking forward to this local derby this weekend. Blues doing well, our results have picked up and grudgingly, I have to say that Bruce has started well for us.

The Sunday lunchtime kickoff is a pain in the arse though. Usually go up to the Lickey Hills on the last Sunday of every October for an afternoon out to admire the great autumnal views. Clocks going back and don't want to miss the match. Might go on Saturday instead after taking the children swimming.

Fuck the Manc derby and London derbies tonight!

UTV!

And only few miles down the road from Bell End as well.

Yep. 7 points from 9 under Bruce. Discipline, grit and determination count more now than skill which is very handy given we don't seem to have much of the latter.

There's no arguing Bruce knows this division like the back of his hand and he's likely to show RDM up as 'very lacking' in the managerial department even after such a short tenure.

In all honesty I can't be arsed winding up Blues fans these days given how shit we have become and I just hope it's a decent game which the idiots steer well clear of.

If we beat or draw with Blues given the nature of our encounters it'll be a welcome result IMO.

The way we've played over the last three I'd settle for a point.

Sometimes I wonder if there's a secret agreement in games like this to settle for a point as it suits both sides and avoids an awful lot of aggro.

There have been a couple of Villa Blues games where this looks like the case. All guesswork of course as we all know both teams always play for a win

Hoping for a Blooze win but I think it will be a draw.

Think I'll give the town centre a bodyswerve on Sunday

How is Bruce viewed at Blues? Did he get a decent reception when he returned with other clubs like Wigan and Sunderland?

He will get a hostile reception from some of the fans as all managers do when they return to an old club, and it will that bit spicier because he's gone to Villa. I personally have no problems with Bruce. He served us well as a player and managed us for 6 years. He got us in the Prem first year of asking and we finished higher than Villa for the first time since the 70s. He dished up some dire shite at times as well, but so has all the other managers since.

I feel less optimistic about today's match than for a long time, because Rowett keeps fucking up team selection and tactics.

Blues 0-2 Villa

Can't believe he's left Jutkiewicz and Cotterill out.

Got a let off with Donaldson heading against the crossbar but got our dodgy Brucey noses in front.

Odd that Villa decided to stop playing in the 2nd half.
Credit to Bruce for thinking of the Sky audience and putting Agbonlahor on for a laugh.

Should have won it really. Villa only had one shot on target.

Fair result although the Blues came at us in the second half. Thought we weren't really up for a fight.
