Fair play to Juan Martin del Potro, for letting Murray win. I for one couldn't bear to see that bitter Scotch man greeting again...

Considering the heat and how well Del Potro has been playing (against Djokovic and Nadal especially), I thought Murray was fantastic last night.

DP was firing cannons at him on that f/h side and time after time, Murray got them back.

Murray has now added a more aggressive side of his game and when he gets the chance now, he takes over the rally to win the point as he did on match point.

I am not surprised at their reaction at the end as for 4 hours of maximum intensity (let alone the matches before), they had both held it all together.

After match point, it all comes out. It looks a bit odd, especially for the winner but it's quite common at that highest level - Farrah was in a similar state after the 10,000.

Away from the abyss, Dan Evans now ranked 60 when a year ago he was around 700. Beaten the likes of Nishikori in US Open in the past, a tournament that Nishikori got to the final of recently. Of course he's a million miles from Murray, but the guy has real talent and may finally be adding the application his career has previously lacked.

Kyle Edmund is young enough to still have potential - something Andy Murray himself certainly believes.

The depth in the women's game though is much better: could be a big focus for the media if they blossom around the time Andy Murray finally hangs up his racket.

If it wasn't for twats like Brazil ("He's no' British, he's Scottish!") I think he'd be a bit of a hero to the English, who have always admired members of the awkward squad.

By the way .... you're going to like this .... when you say "can't fault the guy" ... wait for it .... *I* can. Mind you, I am a foot-fault judge at Wimbledon etc etc. Do I win £10?

My take on her is that her power is her achilles heel.

What she has never developed is consistency, something Murray, for example has in huge quantities.

I've said here and elsewhere a few times that her serve is still a bit of a mess and she often displays an absence of tactical awareness in rallies about where to hit the ball and when.

I think it's this slightly confused mind / decision making which makes her make the wrong choice too often and then she makes a mistake in the technical execution.

Still, I've also said many times that in her early 20's (22 now, I think), she s still one of the young ones as far as tour players.

Not knowing her coaches or her, of course, all of the above is made from my observations and could be a load of bollox in that it may be exactly these things she is working on all the time and may just not have got there yet.

On the other hand, she may have a mindset which says 'blast 'em off the court' and she'll keep going winning some and losing others.
