Gentle exercise is what y'all need.....walking and a bit of swimming.
I do 20 minutes at a brisk speed uphill on a treadmill, then 16 minutes on a cross trainer (with cool downs this enables me to watch an episode of American Horror story) then i go for a swim to stretch myself out
With this, my inhalers, change of diet and knocking booze on the head, my peak flow this morning was 450 - that's usually the best I get up to during the day, so it looks like it's working.

Re: I've got asthma :-(
My wife was diagnosed as asthmatic at about age 50, 8 or 9 years ago.
She was given all the ventolin, etc.
Then last year she was at the doctors and mentioned we were moving. From our home near the Chilterns about 2 miles from J6 M40- Vicar of Dibley country.
He explained that for all the beautiful trees, hills and all the rest, we lived in one of the most polluted areas of England.
She explained we were going to live near the sea. He said her asthma would improve.
Dead right. In fact she spent last week in Morden and then Oxford, and it all came back again.
Was reading today that Oxford Street has the highest levels of shit in the air ( nitrous oxide??) in the world.

I'm sorry to hear that you have asthma Colin, I hope it doesn't affect your life too negatively.

Cheers, to be honest, I'm eating better, drinking less booze and getting more exercise than ever, so i'm looking on it as a positive thing.Kowalski wrote:I'm sorry to hear that you have asthma Colin, I hope it doesn't affect your life too negatively.

Re: I've got asthma :-(
Funnily enough, mine clears up a bit in a city - probably tree pollen and spores set mine off, but without shadow of a doubt, it is the sulphides in wine which really do for me.Hillman avenger wrote:My wife was diagnosed as asthmatic at about age 50, 8 or 9 years ago.

Been experimenting since I've had it and found a sulphde free red (sainsburys fairtrade organic cabernet sauvignon) and have had no ill effects. I tried their organic white and was wheezing, then checked the back of the bottle and it contained added sulphides.
