No there's no treatment Steve; apparently I've had it since day 1, it just started to appear in my mid 20's, that stopped my sports career because I couldn't get insured, rather than physical at that point.
It only really started to get noticibly bad in my mid 30's, now it's fine as long as I listen to what my body is telling me; there's still some left in the tank mate!

Re: Tour De Celeb (CH5) (With Goffeh)
I've been cycling in the Pyrenees, and there isn't a chance of Goffee making it up a proper mountain, unless they give him a 12" gear, or cheat. They're not all THAT steep, 1-in-10 on average, but the ascents are about 5-7 miles long, and dragging his weight up even one of them will be no joke. The descents will be interesting though, his weight will work for him. I hope they check his brakes
--
On the way up it's power/weight ratio that's important; on the way down it's weight/surface area. Even skinny me was on the brakes so much I couldn't touch the wheels afterwards, they were so hot.

Give Gough a blood-transfusion, pound a shit ton of EPO into his veins, and make him peddle 145km in the French Alps; give him the full Tour De France experience, let's see how he gets on. Lance has he haters (I'm not one of them) but the man is a fucking medical miracle.

Was reading this thread before: http://road.cc/content/news/187571-cele ... ty-tv-show and one commenter did jokingly say about Goff being on Strava so he's serious. But Goff has put miles err Ks in before, during and after: https://www.strava.com/athletes/10719831

You should have got into cycling earlier,Steve. Maybe easier for me meandering the mean streets of sunny Suffolk and now Norfolk than the grim of that London but love it and always have since watching TdF as a boy on C4. Bust ankle and pin in 2012 was a teller that running was no more. Came out of retirement with some work types for a 10k run this summer, but that was it.
You and Fug have much more serious issues and as always, hope all good for you.

I enjoyed my running period, as I did rowing before that. I stumbled into cycling when the running had finally taken it's toll on my achilles. Actually, SWL gave me some important advice a few years ago when I was considering taking it up - especially regarding bike choices.
Fug is an example to us all. My problems (for now, anyway) pale into insignificance.

Fug is indeed. Sorry to use you in passing, Fug, but FFS people, do what you want to do now. Do not ponder and then regret when you can't do it later.
Good that SWL has given you advice, Steve, the top man of cycling here. Also, the top man of taking holidays and enjoying himself, though have seen Mrs SWL less than impressed with some foreign fare. But hey.

tNoted, Jimmy. Old friend Northern Troglodite has done the L'Étape, I think. Goffy will do it. He has that Yorkie bastard gene. After reading this i watched it, when you see it for what it is, its ok.....some of them should NOT be doing it , that Chelsea bloke ponce , can't be arsed but sums up "celebrities/nonentities" , anything for a profile darling!!!!
Gough'll do it , like i did through sheer bloody mindedness & a perverse enjoyment of the "going past some even worse", the girl ridng with storey will be the suprise one , she seems to have a talent if she can descend........which i have to admit can be scary with the dicks flying down under you. Don't think our darren was doing much exercise mind before he done this show...despite the BS he spouts about gyms

Goffy did surprisingly well, given his age and shape. Fair play to him.
Enjoyed the series. Hope they do another one next year.

Re: Tour De Celeb (CH5) (With Goffeh)
It was the season finale of the Channel 5 reality TV show Tour de Celeb on Monday, which saw the eight contestants take on July's Etape du Tour in the French Alps.
Our man Big Dave Atkinson was in charge of the remote control for the evening, as well as the road.cc Twitter account. Here's his verdict - let us know what you think in the comments below and if you missed the series you can catch it all here (link is external).
Well, they all made it.

If you were being uncharitable you might point to the fact that the Etape was shortened and the broom wagon cut-off reasonably generous; that worked in Louie Spence’s favour and also that of Hugo Taylor, who spent 45 minutes sitting by the side of the road because he didn’t know how to fix a puncture. Fail to plan, etc and so on.
But credit where credit’s due: everyone got round on a hot day that still included three significant climbs, including the Joux Plane which is generally considered to be no fun at all.
Louie tried to shorten it by walking directly up between the hairpins at one point, but in reality – and indeed on reality TV – that’s probably not any easier.
Who was the star?
Well, Austin Healey smashed round in well under five hours, which is impressive, but he’s not exactly a stranger to two wheels.
Amy Williams, who we bumped into a few times while training around Bath before the Etape this year, knocked the 122km off in a very solid six and a half hours.
AdTech Ad
And on the subject of very solid things Darren Gough, who’s definitely not built for the hills, came home about an hour after that. That was probably the standout ride of the eight. Jodie Kidd struggled with mechanical issues on her Dassi bike, but made it round well within time.
Lucy Mecklenburgh spent the days before the Etape descending like Bambi crossing the frozen pond and didn’t look comfortable with the crowds, and Angelica Bell stuck to her game plan of walking the steep bits and still managed to make it home in plenty of time.
In the end the blue team of Williams, Gough, Spence and Mecklenburgh edged out the reds by nine minutes, with Taylor’s 45-minute puncture siesta more than the difference between the two.
But in the end the Etape is a personal battle and all eight can be proud that they made it to the
