Wow, breaking news - India are a great test team when playing at home. Just in case a record of winning 11 of their 12 home tests prior to England arriving there hadn't clued us up.

What next? Dysfunctional Australia turning to a Yorkshireman to rescue some pride against a dominant SA?robhug wrote:dysfunctional england have sent for a saffer to try and rescue some pride against dominant india
It's almost like people tend to migrate a lot more in this century than they did when cricket first started out.

I can't work this team out.
Normally I'd say it's just the usual over-hyping, and they flatter to deceive.
But this squad looks to have real quality, and I'm still hoping that they will learn from experience and go on to become a truly great side.

First Hameed and now 'Buster' Keaton, England seem to have unearthed some potential gems this series.

I don't mean to - the fact is that whatever more he does in this innings, he has shown he is someone with a great temperament and good technique. Been loving the sweep shot.Reg wrote:Don't jinx him, Lou.

Another example of the farce of international sport qualification, he even represented his country of birth, but because his mom comes from Sunderland and his family chose to live in England, he can choose which country he plays for.

Think how strong the South Africa cricket team could be if the Rand was strong. Brexit will even things up a bit i suppose.

Re: The India vs England 2016 cricket thread
If playing for your country was based on where you were born, Colin Cowdrey would have played for India and Ted Dexter for Italy.
Keaton Jennings has qualified by residency and has a British mother.
Additionally, on the residency qualification issue, I heard on 5Live this morning that the residential qualification period has now been extended to 7 years from 4, although Jennings got into the side on the basis of a 4 year residency qualification.
A few more years for those accents to erode?
