I read the following;
He will have to go back to court to be re-sentenced; by the original judge, Masipa.
The minimum sentence for murder is 15 years except in exceptional circumstances; when the judge has some discretion.

Strange to say the least, but I suppose different countries have different systems, but it seems a little like asking the hangman to undue his handiwork.

BBC reporting that the authorities have issued an arrest warrant for him but don't know what the legal implications of that are.

I wouldn't have thought that they would need a warrant to take him back to prison from house arrest.

Oscar certainly thought he'd got away with it.

This latest verdict must have left him stumped.

Naughty, naughty :D read in the paper that he was 'stunned' at the Supreme Courts decision, I'll bet he was, as you say, he thought he'd got away with murder. There certainly were some questions which didn't seem to get answered, one being, why didn't he make sure that she was OK before stomping off with a firearm to confront an intruder in a lav, and how was the intruder supposed t have got in, the lav is on the first floor and the window doesn't look big enough for a grown person to climb through, and wasn't the estate gated with security guards?

do burglars usually try to get in through the smallest window in the house? He changed his version on a daily basis yet Masipa swallowed the charade hook line and sinker, strange that she's the one to re sentence him.

Masipa is alright. Justice was done in the end. Be interesting to see what sentence she hands down early next year. Any predictions? I'm saying: 27 years minus time served (whatever that is).

Proving yet again that he hasn't got a leg to stand on. Hope he gets the maximum, but somehow don't think he will.

Which begs the question. just how did he manage to carry a weapon if he needs to support himself whilst moving about without his prosthetics and how did he manage to keep his balance whilst bashing down the lavvy door with a cricket bat, and I ask the question once more, IF he thought there was an intruder in the bathroom why didn't he do what you or I would, make sure the person next to me in bed was OK.

i've listened to much of the submission during the last couple of days and the evidence of the nurse (that he could turn into violent temper if he didn't get what he wans) seems to contradict the evidence of the shrink, who thinks that he's a total basket case.

One other thing, why. today, is he in a scruffy tee shirt when over the last couple of days he's been in a smart shuit, boiled shirt and immaculate tie? Coyldn't be to make him look a dejected victim?

The shrink says he's to ill and traumatized to give evidence, but it seems as though he's fit enough to concuct a TV interview talking about the events of that night. just a tad odd, that?

An insult to Steenkamp and her family. Parole in 3, so some justice, he'd already been sentence to 5 years.

Apparent mitigating factors (all bollocks)

Pistorius was vulnerable on his stumps without his protheses.
He believed the person in the bathroom was an intruder.
He “immediately took steps to try to save the deceased’s life”.
The judge believed he was genuinely remorseful.

Zammers, any chance you can explain to silly ole me what the 'mitigating circumstances' are?
I suppose we shouldn't have been surprised at the 6 years Judge Masipa gave him, we could have assumed it wouldn't be a severe sentence when she found him not guilty in the first place , she was hardly going to give him the max, was she?

What does it say for the SA justice system? But more to the point, what does it say about Judge Masipa?
