The base interest rate is set by the Bank of England. They hold press conferences explaining their decisions. They're not doing it in secret.

The reason interest rates have been kept low for so long is the economy/growth is fragile.

God help us.
Is there no end to the shit this man produces?
Understands nothing but likes to think he has special insight.
Can't even spell. "Suppression".
Like everything else, the cost of borrowing money is subject to supply and demand. There's plenty around but people are very reluctant to commit to investment.
The rate has been sliced and sliced trying to find the point at which people would borrow to invest.
Not least because Brexit and Trump have both scared investors.
It is a worldwide market and the suggestion that there is some evil mastermind controlling it all behind the scenes is once again, shite.
Why the fuck does he have to see a plot in everything?

No. Everybody knows who sets the base rate & they hold a press conference explaining their decision.

So no answer then.
You are a tragic combination of ignorance and bigmouthery.
Despite your pathetic bleatings about our agreement, for several weeks now you have followed my posts with childish abuse. I have not responded but I will now.
This forum is in a bad enough state without your stupid contributions.

I never answer you, but you know that already

We had an agreement, you failed to stick to it

You know why

I stuck to it, spent months politely asking them
Months giving you a stock answer

I would never respond to any of your posts, I would only ever react to your posts towards me, always a reaction

The year was up about ten days ago

Now I just do what you do, it's all cool, it's what you wanted, you got it, enjoy it, but don't deny you wanted it

And just to remind you, I never debate with you, never will mostly because your opinion any any matter is less than irrelevant

Don't moan about the situation, just try to accept it with good grace

Have you noticed how few people debate with you?

You end up like some sad twat sitting in the corner of the pub mumbling nonsense. Eventually you just disappear in peoples' consciousness.

You have a desperate need to be a smartarse. To do it you cling to utter nonsense because you think that makes it look like you are "in the know".

Your comments on interest rates are the latest example. If you want to comment, find out something about it. Not from some nutter website.

Artificially "suppressed" or not, UK interest rates will start rising again due to the weakness of the pound not only leading to a flood of money from the country but will result in higher energy costs and High Street inflation.

Thanks to the oncoming disaster that is Brexit.

Still, that is a small price to pay so that at least one of our friends on here gets £50 extra per year interest on his savings :drinkers:

Global rates will rise

Because they can't do anything else

They were going to rise with or without brexit

Of course interest rates will rise eventually.

They can hardly go lower.

The world is on pause.

Sweden's an alright place. Visited Malmo a while back and it was a pleasant city where people of all backgrounds get on with life as best they can. No hint of menace or trouble.

A very different culture to ours

Highly collaborative. Find personal competitiveness a bit strange.

And voting Brexit will not stop this country being flooded with more and more immigrants over the coming years, don't worry 'bout that.

That genie is out of the bottle and it ain't going back in.
Spot on Pet. When people talk immigration figures and the ebb and flow of mass migration they think it is somehow controlled by the EU. However we're not talking about the freedom of movement we're talking about unsanctioned illegal immigration which isn't controlled by the EU at all. In or out of the EU we will still be inundated with migrants, refugees who once in, will dig in and never leave. Brexit will not solve any of that.

We now have politicians across Europe welcoming the replacement of their own people as if it's a good thing.

To oppose this is of course racist.
