Rick Parfitt Dead

Post by ollie »

Just heard the awful news. The great Status Quo guitarist has finally passed away. What an awful time to pass on. My thoughts and wishes are with his family at this awkward time of the year. RIP Rick, you were just brilliant!!

The first record i ever bought was the single Rocking All Over The World in 1977 . The first time i ever see them live was a Prince's Trust concert at the NEC in 1982(ish) . I've seen them headlinine the Monsters of Rock at Donnington . I have every album they've done from a Dog Of Two Head up to the Back to Back on vinyl . Personally i thought it went downhill from there as Alan Lancaster and John Coghlan left the band . The Hello! album is still one of my favorite albums of all time .

Along with Simple Minds , Quo are the best live act i have ever seen . I also understand they ain't everybody's cup of tea but musically they have been a big part of my life .

I'm fucking devastated to hear the news of Rick's passing and i'll be having a beer or two in memorandum tonight .

RIP Rick , you'll always be a legend in my eyes :(
Barman : "What will it be , Sir ?"

Barman : "Sorry Sir , we're out of bitter"

I still think their first one was the best.

One of the best songs of the rock era IMO.....Matchstick Men.
Alex Young, Howard Kendall, Andy King, Timmy Cahill, Dixie Dean and Mike Parry.....we'll never see the likes of them again.

They started off quite well In the early days but then became really cheesy and a parody of themselves. Their biggest hits were cover versions . John Fogertys rocking all over the world is much better

Mate I don't think I was even aware that it wasn't their song let alone that the great John Fogerty had written and recorded it first??!!
