I have never understood the insistence by all (it seems) of the mainstream parties to retain this baffling ring fenced expenditure. Maybe it serves some purpose that we are not aware of, but the notion that politicians and senior civil servants are doing it purely out of altruism (albeit with other peoples' cash) is of course laughable.

Over £12b. Think what that could do if used sensibly in this country. How can you justify the cuts governments have made, and then send this sort of money out of the country. Moreover, two of the countries we send 'aid' to have expensive space programs. The clowns who agree this hide behind 'it's our moral obligation' but have no idea exactly where this money goes and who benefits fom it.

We continue to be the mugs of the world.

Foreign aid is a way of gaining influence in third world countries and indirectly paying bribes. Good deal of false accounting involved which benefits our "own" people too.

This is why the world population has rocketed to over 10 billion. This is why we need GM synthetic food to feed everyone.

Course it does m4rkb. I've seen it in action. Everyone gets a share except the people it's actually intended for and sometimes we get contracts or the facility to slip troops quietly in and out , refuel aircraft and so on.
Of course, because it's all so fucking cloak and dagger, half of it is simply nicked by almost anyone involved in the chain, and written off. Before the EU, it was the most untraceable source of income for politicians and functionaries.
