The most serious prison riot since Strangeways in 1990 the other night where cons took over four wings.
What I want to know is what sort of treatment would the instigators get now. I know a lot of us think that prison is an easy ride but I don't think in the aftermath that the cons would be invited to tea and macaroons with the Home Secretary somehow.
Funnily enough, I watched Scum that same night and wonder whether the ringleaders had their faces kicked in after the inmates in the borstal kicked off.

Let's hope so, the ungrateful cunts. They need to realise they are living in better conditions than many. Latest stats show that one third of the people in the UK live below the poverty line, and prisoners aren't amongst them.kancutlawns wrote: Funnily enough, I watched Scum that same night and wonder whether the ringleaders had their faces kicked in after the inmates in the borstal kicked off.

They need to cut back the privatisation parts and employ mainly ex soldiers who are ethical and disciplined. One main problem is the massive level of corruption and smuggling through staff who are open to bribes or threats.
They would be better off establishing proper control from the outset and maintaining it than having to react to matters like this.
I would suggest primary legislation clearly defining a riot, clearly defining the action required on the part of prisoners in the case of one arising to disassociate themselves from it, and then an automatic doubling of sentences together with automatic withdrawal of discounts for all who took part.

a) Prison privatisation is clearly a terrible idea. It's bound to lead to corners being cut & doing things on the cheap to increase profits. This is probably the root of the current problems.
b) I'm not a hang 'em & flog 'em merchant but there should be no doubt who's running the prisons & it should be the guards not the prisoners. Prisons should be orderly places.
c) If you commit any crime in prison your sentence should be lengthened.

Even the biggest bleeding heart I think would agree that prisoners aren't going to get 'rehabilitated' while they're rioting or on the roof of the prison.Basualdo wrote:Jesus tap dancing Christ! Unanimity of talkForum! Give ourselves a pat on the back.

G4S must pay for prison riot.

Hope they do end up paying for it. Notice when they cock it up it's the public sector that has to rescue them.

What's the real story with g4s.
Does anyone here have the balls to go and find out.
Or are we all timid little backseat drivers.

Are these prisoners complaining about being locked up for 23 hours a day. Surely if they were they wouldn't be a problem to control because they'll be very unfit physical wrecks?

And?
I think you are grossly overestimating public concern for prison welfare.
It seems to range from no fucks given all the way down to even fewer than no fucks given.
