A particularly obtuse comment to make even by your standards.

Just because many animals aren't treated humanely whilst alive that doesn't mean with have to kill them cruelly too. Just seems like a needless double whammy.

Kill them quickly, it's easy enough.

Instead of banning sugary, fatty foods etc why not get all fat people on to a remote island and make them play a battle royale type game of attrition?

Would clear out some of talkforum's patrons, going by some of the ultra defensive stances taken by some on here.

Not much to eat in McDonald's since I became a vegetarian but ah do love a McFlurry. McDonald's is also handy for those times when you're on holiday and for whatever reason can't be bothered putting any thought into where you eat. You know what you'll get!

In Ireland we are heading for an absolute shitstorm with obesity in ten years or so. Eating out for lunch seems to be the done thing for a lot of school kids now rather than eating packed lunches. Parents too lazy or time poor to do lunches for them. Kids are of course going to eat the junk food every time. I lost my mum when I was young so I was making my own lunches but if I'd been given money I'd have made a beeline for the supermarket deli counter. Chippers were only open on Fridays at lunchtime too but most open everyday now :-k

Sugar tax coming in here next year just like UK but that's just a handy money-spinner for the next couple of years until they come up with some new madcap scheme

The price of a sandwich in any Spar in Dublin should help trim the population

The "waddling dole scum" don't do sandwidges so much as breakfast rolls and snack boxes. Chicken "goojohns" and the like.

The kids never seem to be fat in Scotland where the standard playtime snack is a congealed deep fried Mars bar.

If you want to keep the UK population's weight down, put them on heroin at an early age like they do up north.
