The King of Thailand is dead.

Post by Petingo »

Just in case anyone is interested.

The scenes on the streets of Bangkok are incredible.

Seriously, what is it with people whom turn out on the streets in their thousands and weep copious tears when some King, Queen or Princess dies?

I just don't get it :(

RIP King Bhumibol Adulyadej
Alex Young, Howard Kendall, Andy King, Timmy Cahill, Dixie Dean and Mike Parry.....we'll never see the likes of them again.

It's something in the human psyche to mourn people you have never personally known or met, the newsreel footage of Rudolph Valentinos funeral are incredible, women trying to,throw themselves onto his coffin in their grief for someone they had only ever seen on the silver screen in the silent movie era.

Just wait till our geriatric monarch finally kicks the bucket.

It'll be wall to wall radio/TV coverage, idiots bussing it all the way down from Carlisle to The Mall. And if we're really lucky, a score from Elton john to once again assault the pop charts.

No, it's 100 times worse.

The monarchy is much more prominent in Thailand and the prince is rumoured to be a murderous bastard so I fear Thailand could descend into civil war.

When Diana died I more or less stopped watching TV or reading the papers until after the funeral - it was as if the world had gone mad.

Is it?

The big girl said that to me as well but I thought it can't be right and checked with Mr. Google and read 30 days.

You could well be right, Doug.

Same here.
Im a monarchist too but I honestly thought there was some sort of insanity virus going round.
A girl I had to work with wouldnt speak to me for months because when the Diana poster she put on the wall above the machines fell off the wall and I said, "You should have put a seat belt on it."
A pity too because I quite fancied her and she had particularly eye catching embonpoint.
The girl in work, I mean, not Diana, whose tits, I gather, were quite the disappointment

Kay Burley won't sleep for a week.

The Queen does seem OK compared to the rest of the brood of hangers on and lazebags but it's hard to see people getting as attached to whoever follows her.
