Do you honestly think that Corbyn would lead a Labour party to a GE win?The Tick wrote:If Corbyn is challenged, he'd win another leadership contest even with a slightly diminished majority.
If he is removed altogether, Labour will not become a credible electoral force and the likes of Tristram HUnt, Chuka Umunna will not lead them to victory.

I don't. But is winning a general election at the moment much of a prize? The whole of the next 5 years will be dominated by Brexit.Zambo wrote:Do you honestly think that Corbyn would lead a Labour party to a GE win?The Tick wrote:If Corbyn is challenged, he'd win another leadership contest even with a slightly diminished majority.

Re: Corbyn
Answer to that is a sharp no. There's distrust and divisiveness in Labour even worse than in the Conservative Party. It's going to be highly improbably that anyone can pull old Labour and the Blairites together.Zambo wrote:Labour need a credible leader in place asap, but have they got one?Ralph wrote:I don't. It's a thankless job Hillman and Johnson would be insane to take it. Labour are eating themselves up.

I'd gamble on him. Obvious there's going to be a snap election & he's the one who'd have the biggest immediate impact. Won't happen though. Going to take a massive election defeat before Corbyn goes.Kowalski wrote:Dan Jarvis is supposed to be a popular choice within the party.

Flipping eck , when I said elsewhere that Harold Macmillans Night of the Long Knives wouldn't have anything on this I hadn't assumed the massakree would be carried out on Corbyn.

A whole load of Tory's signed up for 3 quid to vote for Corbyn knowing that under him Labour would lose the GE.

Re: Corbyn
This is just the same old politicians in denial that the people want real representatives instead of speaking clocks now.
I probably disagree with everything Jeremy Corbyn ever thought, but I can see that he's a decent and honest man who actually believes something. That is why the Labour Party membership prefer him to this bunch of self seeking arseholes who' d still like to think they can rule over them and dismiss their dreams and opinions out of hand.
They are in denial that the people have seen through their venal bullshit, so they're trying to take it out on Corbyn - after all he's the personification of the movement to rebel against their spin and sense of entitlement.
Will he win an election - probably not, but will he continue to introduce genuine beliefs and honesty instead of cynical spin. Well I think he will actually, and that will fix their future credibility much more than their ambition to chuck him out and go back to being an insincere spin machine.

Re: Corbyn
Interesting to see the areas represented by some of those who resigned today
Chris Bryant - Rhondda
Hilary Benn - Leeds
Gloria de Piero - Nottinghamshire
Lucy Powell - Manchester
Lillian Greenwood - Nottingham
Ian Murray - Edinburgh
Kerry McCarthy - Bristol
Vernon Coaker - Nottinghamshore
Karl Turner - Hull
I would suggest that these people are rather more in touch with the mood of the country than the sixth-form common-room class warrior supposedly in charge of the party.

Labour core voters want him to remain, - maybe the PLP should sack themselves and form a new party (maybe call themselves the 'all that matters is winning an election' party).Holden Mcgroyne wrote:Looking increasingly like he's prepared to destroy the party on the altar of his own vanity.

Just needs someone to do the kind thing for the conservatives too, then maybe we can try a bit of honest politics.
