Interesting that after last weekend's German elections are properly analysed, it turns out that the CDU lost votes as predicted, but to both afd who are against her immigrant policy, and other parties who are enthusiastic about it.

She will have to make some careful judgements now, but it seems clear she is not going to change her outlook

I know some on here see her as demonic, but in my view she is possibly the strongest national leader around these days. She has a vision for Germany, and she is realistic enough to know that turning backs to the migrant problem is storing up even more trouble in the future. It has taken courage to do what she has, given Germany has previously absorbed the costs of reunification and then of keeping Greece afloat.

Merkel is trying to juggle too many commitments. Eurozone crisis, Greece, refugees, Syria and Ukraine wars, sanctions on Russia, NATO commitments and relations with USA, Brexit, domestic German issues, disputes between EU members, Turkish aggression.

For Germany, dominance of Europe is turning out to be a serious drain. Something will have to give, no matter how good her intentions are.

Difficult to see how the country is in decline without any figures. Posters normally betray their political allegiances by using stats to back up their personal viewpoints but that doesn't seem the case with Germany which remains the single European powerhouse and manufacturing giant. Not sure how the country is in decline and they seem to have a far superior work ethic than the lily livered pussies in this country who want to watch Kyle in the morning instead of putting in a shift and yes Roy, it's true.
