Hi Everyone
I would be really greatfull if people could complete this 15 second survey on the question "How many hours a week would you have to work before you considered yourself a full time employee."
https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/HTYJK7M
It would be interesting to debate it after you finish it.

If I was working less than 6 hours per day I would consider that to not be full time. However, I don't believe there is any set rule.
Don't always believe what you think, because sometimes its' a load of shite

I think the Job Shop consider anything over 16 hours a week as 'full time', I'm not sure, I will have to ask one of the young people I know looking for work.Zambo wrote:If I was working less than 6 hours per day I would consider that to not be full time. Done, voted 36 hours. Very surprised that 16+ is considered full time.

It can't possibly be full time, can it?Thursty wrote:Done, voted 36 hours. Very surprised that 16+ is considered full time.
Average working week is what, 40.5 hrs?
That's not even half of it.

Most people do 9-5 with an hour for lunch, or 9-5.30.
I do 9-6 - that's a long-enough day, by any stretch!

In the building trade it is typically 40.5 sub, if you are on the books.
Anything above this will be paid time & half.

I get overtime when I attend launches/tastings etc in the evening, plus any weekend work, which is good (time and a half, too)

In on annual hours - usually 1280 I think. Dunno what works out as weekly - probably fuck all, around 22?
Naturally I do a lot more on top of that before some cheeky bastard starts banging on about teachers again.

Birdie is correct. Anything over 16 hours and you have to sign off JSA. You are then considered a full time worker.birdie wrote:I think the Job Shop consider anything over 16 hours a week as 'full time', I'm not sure, I will have to ask one of the young people I know looking for work.Zambo wrote:If I was working less than 6 hours per day I would consider that to not be full time. So far out of 52 respondents, 82% have given a number over 30 hours.

DWP classify full time work as anything over 16 hours.Steve Hunt wrote:It can't possibly be full time, can it?Thursty wrote:Done, voted 36 hours. Very surprised that 16+ is considered full time.

Interestingly, you only have to do an hour a month to classify yourself as self employed, and all self employed work is considered full time.
I will tell you, that no respondent put anything under 20 hours.

Re: 30 Second Survey on Full Time Work
I put 25 I think, I try to do a minimum of 5 hours a day, but now winter comes Ill probably extend it to 8 or 9 maybe for 4 days and take Friday afternoon from 2.30 off, to be fair I used to do 12-16 hour days every day when I was in the UK and that included weekends, it was very tiring esp on the 8 week run up to Xmas but I would take 4 to 5 days off at the end of every month and get out of the UK to refresh, I quite enjoyed it, but eventually the stress turned me to Alcohol, it was always there, and now I guess the Alcohol is starting to take overKeithArthur wrote:DWP classify full time work as anything over 16 hours.Steve Hunt wrote:It can't possibly be full time, can it?Thursty wrote:Done, voted 36 hours.
