It seemed like a good idea at the time!

Working through the short stories from the New Yorker too, and waiting on Capital - John Lancester to come available from the library.

Other than an Ol' Pet post, I can't remember the last time I read a piece of fiction.

The part about sitting next to the amputee soldier on the train is sublime.

Really? I loved that series. Ian Rankin has recently released a new Rebus novel, it has remixed reviews. The early books were the best ones. If you'd like to read some gripping crime novels, try Aftermath and Wednesdays Child by Peter Robinson. I've seen previews of the ITV drama, it looks awful. Rankin's dramas weren't too bad on TV, but not as good as the books.gosport mark wrote:read 'tooth and nail' one of the inspector rebus novels by iain rankin.
really not impressed. the conclusion was an absolute let down.
Lee Child's Reacher series seems alright, although they've cast Cruise as Reacher in the movie . . . . .
. . . yep.

Re: Currently Reading
Never read any of the Reacher books, Lucy, but heard about Cruise and the film and brouhaha. Isn't Reacher meant to be some giant of a man, not a short arsed weirdy type?
Maybe she's born with it, maybe it's Maybelline.

Yeah, the character is very masculine, 6'4, fair hair, etc. Cruise is a bit of a pussy and is something like 5'3? It doesn't add up. Maybe the film maker(s) wanted to target a different audience . . .Carlos J wrote:Never read any of the Reacher books, Lucy, but heard about Cruise and the film and brouhaha.
