I find Lenny Henry totally unfunny, like most people do, and also a bit pretentious these days.

But for some reason I've never actually disliked him, because he doesn't seem to be loathesome person, unlike most comedians.
He's not great but I don't dislike him. As a kid I found a black man pretending to be David Bellamy pretty funny.

I was watching a programme about him just before Christmas with stuff he did in his own show and Not The Nine O'clock News like Delbert Wilkins and Theophilus P Wildebeeste and thought he was quite funny. If it wasn't for the charity work which conversely made him a figure of derision, his popularity may have had more longevity but yes, he's not a loathsome twat and seems an OK bloke.

Lenny Henry wasn"t on Not the Nine O'Clock News. Not as a regular anyway.
That was initially Rowan Atkinson, Pamela Stephenson, Mel Smith and...erm...Chris Langham.
Langham left after the first series to go and write for the Muppet Show or something (more chance of meeting kids?) and was replaced by Griff Rhys Jones.

Langham was on it? Didn't know that. Got done after downloading loads of child porn around the turn of the millennium. He wasn't a bad comedy writer as it was but he fucked his career up the arse after that. A shambling farcical man, much like his comedies.

There was something Lenny Henry was in years ago that wasn't bad. About a Liverpool DJ running a mobile disco from an old ice cream van who tries to smuggle an American Air Force deserter to Hull.

I have just read that last paragraph back, and yes, it make zero sense as a plot, but believe me it was an actual thing and way way waaaaaaayyy more realistic and entertaining than last night's Sherlock clusterfuck.
