The following day I received a phone call from my mate warning me that the young lady had aids - the bad sort.

My misery was complete. During one football tournament I had split up with my fiance & moved out, met someone who I liked who it turned out had a death sentence hanging over her & England had once again gloriously crashed out of a major competition.
