I am currently being bitten alive by mosquitoes whilst posted in a temporary overseas position.
Apart from filling my home with chameleons, can anyone suggest a way of dealing with the pointless little buggers?
The plug-in things don't work.
Thanks.

Apparently June is the worst month. They vanish at the end of June (as will I).

Re: For those that live in hot climes
All obvious:
Wear long sleeves and long trousers (preferably loose fitting and light coloured). Sleep under a net. Try to avoid going out and about around dusk. If you can get rid of any standing-water near where you are, or avoid it where you can. Don't do any rigourous exercise outside (ie: avoid sweating and panting alot), so if you fancy a fuck, do it under a net. I wouldn't use repellent myself as it probably does more harm than good, but that's just personal preference.

Fred Kite: I've got to be off. I can't stay here arguing. I've got a lot to do. Report to the Executive, check up on the pickets.
Mrs. Kite: From what I can see, the only time you ever jolly well *do* any work is when you're on strike.

Re: For those that live in hot climes
Bottom of my garden is a breeding ground for mosquitoes, only choice we have is to get it sprayed by a professional each year.
It's just gone 8am here and heading towards 26 already. Roll on the winter and sub zero temps.

Re: For those that live in hot climes
Trying to deal with them in your house doesn't really work, as you have already found out.The End wrote:I am currently being bitten alive by mosquitoes whilst posted in a temporary overseas position.

Thanks.
You have to ethnically cleanse the buggers at source.
Is there a pond beside your house?
If so, that is where the mosquitos are breeding.
Buy a lot of goldfish, preferably dark ones so they are not easily visible to land based or airborne predators and your mosquito problem will be considerably lessened as they will feed on the mosquito larvae.
Or you can actually buy specialist fish called simply "mosquitofish" and stock the pond with them.
I think you can even put both goldfish and mosquitofish in the same pond but you would need to check on that.
When we bought our house in SoCal I was tortured with the buggers. They were breeding in a pond in our backyard.
I put goldfish in the pond and that all but cured the problem.......but only after someone told me to go for dark goldfish.
The brightly coloured ones I started with fell victim to raccoons and birds because they were so easily seen.
It won't eradicate it entirely but your life will be much more bearable.
Alex Young, Howard Kendall, Andy King, Timmy Cahill, Dixie Dean and Mike Parry.....we'll never see the likes of them again.
