Same here, always found ketchup to be sickly sweet and can't understand caking their chips in them. I find that the fries have to be cooked to a tee and perfectly crisp for me to enjoy the ketchup. Don't mind tartare sauce but then the qualifier has to be crisply fried cod. Ketchup goes best with fried chicken IMO.
