Was watching tv this evening and stuck on the heating as was a bit chilly. 5 minutes later a butterfly flew up from behind the radiator and nearly gave me a heart attack! At first glance it looked like a Red Admiral but after a bit of Googling am sure it's a small tortoiseshell.
Apparently these can hibernate in houses during the winter months and can be disturbed by central heating. Anyway, as per instructions I removed it to the garden shed- it should be ok there until the spring.
Anyone else come across this for the first time?
