Your favourite bike

Post by Chris »

Grifter for me. Sturdy frame, chunky tyres, comfortable cushioned saddle, padded handlebar, and flick wrist gears.

Special mention for the Chopper, bit before my time but a bike I've ridden.

When I was about 15ish me and a mate put grifter handlebars, front forks and seat on a chopper frame, the chifter or gropper as we variously called it, had the advantage of being able to put rockets in the back part of the frame which were fired off as I trundled down the street!

Hello. :? Not me Bas. The only bikes I can remember were a couple of Raleigh racers that got me through teenage years. Never into BMX but did ride a few of my friends BMXs. Currently sporting a bland hybrid, but quite like the idea of getting a racer or should it be road bike (?) again.

Though, coincidentally today, was wandering along and this girl zoomed past on some electric bike up the hill. One to ponder when the legs get iffy.
Maybe she's born with it, maybe it's Maybelline.

They are called road bikes these days, Carlos.

Now is the time to buy, as the 2016 models come out. You should be able to get quite a reduction on 2015 models.

Have a look at the Evans & Chain Reaction websites.

Specialized, Giant & Trek are best makes, imo.

Do not go down the Halfords/Boardman route - inferior and overpriced.

My first proper bike was a Raleigh mustang I got for Christmas maybe around 1990.
