I've gone the other way. Put on 8 pounds in the last 17 days thanks to a week in Wales (and that's with walking a lot), my cousins from Canada are over til Wed and I'm guessing lots of it is down to beers in the garden and BBQs.

On the holiday topic. Went to North Wales - magic - lovely wee towns, friendly people and even got a lock-in in a place called Ruthin. Plotting now for next year the southern part, maybe Cornwall if time/cash work as well.

Maybe a southern warm place like South Africa/America in Jan/Feb to beat the post-Christmas blues, and a return to Canada. Always wanted to see Japan, one day - too many places not enough money.

Anyhoos dragging this massively off-topic.

Who's off soon?

One thing that surprised me hugely about Wales (and England) was that the kids were only off on holiday last Friday. Unbeliveable really.

I was, Chris. I spent 2 nights in Colwyn Bay and Llandudno. Bought a wee Welsh language book and didn't realise it's pronounced ''Hlandidno'' I kent the Hl bit, but not u = i in Welsh, but lovely wee toun. It probably helped that sun was shining for 5 of the 6 days, but nice wee winding streets, and climbed the Great Orme, seen what I think was the Isle of Man.

Beautiful.

Nice one, Kev. :D

I didn't know about the pronunciation either.

I know my mum and dad enjoyed it down there. They said it was fairly quiet, which was the type of holiday that suited them as they got older.

Base yourself here - see if you can stay in one of the Fistral Lodges - absolutely beautiful houses with a hot tub on the balcony - and you're 15 minutes from padstow/newquay/bodmin/boscastle/ eden project

We went to Hurghada in Egypt during the last two weeks of March this year and stayed at the Marriott for 11 Days & Nights. Simply amazing place with superb facilities & I would highly recommend it.

At the end of September we are of to Gumbet near Bodrum where we have been before and are going to stay at a different hotel to before the WOW Resort Bodrum. Last year we stayed at The Queens Hotel but this time we choose move because of bad reviews.

Gumbet is fantastic. Do they still run those little dolmuş buses between there and Bodrum?

Yucutan peninsula in Mexico at the old Mayan city of Coba. The picture was chosen from a group of several with the additional interests in mind. Better than a photo of me at the top. ;)

Just booked a week in Santa Ponsa in Sept. Haven't been there since 2000, so thought we go back and give it another shot.

It was an excellent resort then, so hoping it hasn't changed much.

Only a month until I spend three nights in Washington DC then fly to Las Vegas for twelve nights. Can't fucking wait; I'm badly in need of a holiday.

Is that a annual ritual to Vegas?

I went when I was 21 with a few friends and we stayed in the joyous Circus Circus. $9 a night deal, but did the job, although down the rougher end of the strip.

Mad place though - like going to the horses everyone from the riches to hobos hoping for a change of fortune.
