He's not actually the worst comedian in Britain. He is to you and me who have a vast wealth of proper conics to compare him to. But you should see the current crop of new 'talent' ... that's crop with an 'a'.

It really is so bad there is almost a comic element in it on those grounds alone. Most of these acts are hyped up to the max as they hit the stage, please welxome the brilliant and super funny [insert name of someone you'll never hear of after six months] and they struggle to do a five minute act. Fatso managed about 6 minutes on the Royal Variety Show and all his jokes and impressions were listed on here a week before he dies (on stage that is). Then they all get rescued with the usual "lets give a big round of applause for" in thanks they've finished.

Anyone over forty really notices the difference in..... I was going to say quality but that's clearly the wrong word.

No I guess your right whenever I see a standup comedy show on TV the set goes off very quickly because the 'comedians' all stink.

It's the same with TV comedy shows, over the last 40 years there's been some absolute crackers, Faulty Towers, Rising Damp, Blackadder, Only Fools and Horses, Porridge, Dad's Army, Steptoe & Son, I'm Alan Partridge, Monty Python's Flying Circus, The Office, Till Death Us Do Part and god knows how many others.

You're right they are being completely over-hyped AND over-used, I don't mind them in small doses but it's gone mad.

How long is it back since Mike Parry was virtually on his knees doing self-made videos trying to light up 20 fags in his mouth or swallowing a bottle of cinnamon on his back lawn to fan up publicity so he wasn't forgotten?.

I don't mind a come-back I didn't want him back on every show on the schedule.
