Re: The 2015 General Election Thread
If you look at the election map the only areas where labour can scrape a few mps are towns with white minorities or large ethnic populations , or in areas like the north east and South Wales where could stick a red rosette on a donkey and it would get elected. Labour thought muslim voters would want a Jewish pm.

People who are trapped in a cycle of poverty thanks to ever more unjust and unstable jobs market who need help to survive are not spongers.Roy Twing wrote:I know. The Tick wrote:There are people on low-paid full time jobs or in part time work, who do rely on housing benefit, working tax credit, and child benefit in order to make ends meet.Roy Twing wrote:Classic comment from a product of new britain on question time just now, - she was bemoaning the election of the tories and that working class families, who don’t “sponge off the state” will suffer because of welfare cuts.

The spongers are the tax evading fat cats. Who as ever will get away with their crimes and force the rest of the population to pick up the pieces.

More than 100 people voted for former Eurovision star Ronnie Carroll in the General Election even though he died in April.
Mr Carroll, who was born in Belfast, was well known for his big UK hit, Roses are Red.
He died on 13 April, days after getting his name printed on ballot papers for the Hampstead & Kilburn constituency.
He had billed himself as the Eurovisionary Carroll and at the polls, 113 people gave him their vote.
Mr Carroll represented the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1962 and 1963 with Ring-A-Ding Girl and Say Wonderful Things, finishing fourth both times.
He had been due to stand as an independent in the election.
He had previously stood unsuccessfully in elections under the banner of parties such as Make Politicians History.
In the Haltemprice and Howden by-election in 2008, he failed in his mission to get no votes, gaining an almost respectable 29.
Born Ronald Cleghorn, he was married at one stage to That Was The Week That Was star Millicent Martin.
He died, aged 80, after a short illness.

A shame that the UKip votes didn't translate into seats, but the shift to the right by the electorate is fantastic.
I didn't vote Conservative, but more than happy that they won. Hopefully this will consign Labour to their box for a long, long time.

It is a sad state of affairs that 'we' still largely fall for the 2 party option time and again, but at least the 'least worst' option won out.Darkyboy wrote:A shame that the UKip votes didn't translate into seats, but the shift to the right by the electorate is fantastic.

You are right Roy. The prospect of Labour being in power, brought people to their senses; especially when Nicola Sturgeon came knocking.

Because they are in a Tory led nation where worker's rights have been plundered in the last five years, where the global financial crisis caused by rogue bankers have hit small businesses hard and led to decreasing salaries, and where vital public services are being eroded away leading to the proliferation of food banks and the like.Roy Twing wrote:Think it through - why are they 'trapped' exactly? The Tick wrote:People who are trapped in a cycle of poverty thanks to ever more unjust and unstable jobs market who need help to survive are not spongers.Roy Twing wrote:I know.

They said so themselves. Sent scout scouts out to find people to bring in and admitted they wanted to rub the rights' nose in diversity.

One day your kids and grandkids will ask why this was allowed to happen. that's if the history books haven't been completely destroyed to hide the truth by then.

Re: The 2015 General Election Thread
The core vote for the Conservatives come from rural and semi-rural parts of the UK. The South of England has vast swathes of this, the exceptions being London, Brighton, Luton Bristol, Exeter, Norwich etc. The north of England is more urbanised which is why we see prominent flashes of red on their political map. Even in Scotland the Conservatives would do well in rural areas such as Angus or Dumfries, until the 1980's when they pissed off everyone there.Bad Blue 2000 wrote:The South of England have a lot to answer for.

How many major city councils in the UK are Tory run?

Re: The 2015 General Election Thread
It's really quite simple.
People's ideological choice ruled during the build up, but when it came to the crunch the though of putting an incapable marxist laughing stock in power made them come to their senses.
It's been aired on plenty of radio shows that this is basically what happened.
