This is what always happens only 20 odd percent of the electorate actually vote for the government.Zambo wrote:Looking at the % of the vote won and the number of votes per party v No seats, it's clear that the current system is an absolute farce.
Needs looking into and sorting.
The party with the most votes should run the country, with the No of MPs pro rata'd
It's black and white as of course most things are.
Mandate my arse.

Can't be right that a party who has half the number of votes as another party, has 50 odd seats and the other party has one.the rotary club wrote:This is what always happens only 20 odd percent of the electorate actually vote for the government.Zambo wrote:Looking at the % of the vote won and the number of votes per party v No seats, it's clear that the current system is an absolute farce.

It took absolutely ages to have the recount. Campbell was telling us for about the results to be announced, must have taken about forty five minutes at least and it was utterly farcical listening to the interviewer outside the newsagents in the constituency talking to people going in and out.Carlos J wrote:Balls gone.

Fair play to the Tories. I despise their politics but they've ran a masterful campaign.
They seem to have the knack of outmanoeuvring all of their political opponents. Lib Dems hamstrung and doomed the moment Clegg and co entered into a coalition with them last year. Labour talked into shoring up the non existant 'Little Englander vote' by playing down any prospect of a SNP coalition thus doing them a great deal of damage in Scotland.
Lynton Crosby you magnificent cunty bastard.

Some of the swings from Labour to the SNP are unhearalded. 30% - 35% in many of Labours safest seats.
Mind boggling that a party could be so out of touch with the electorate in an entire country.

CON Davies on away goals. A quite historic result, and probably a big shock for Liz the new Labour lady. What seems to have happened is that the Lib Dems took a brutal cunting as expected but the votes they lost did not move to Labour, they moved to CON and UKIP.NorthBank wrote:I live on the Gower which has been Labour since 1906 and as per the election result is now Conservative. Be interesting to see if anything changes. The only thing I want to change at the moment is for people to stop using terms like 'Austerity', 'Immigration' and 'First Past the Post System'. Fuck off!

The Unions picked the wrong brother in 2010 against the wishes of the party members, MP's and MEP's. Fair play for Miliband to take responsibility and disappear. With Balls gone, there will be no one from the last Labour Treasury team to be associated with the economic crisis.
Everything short of independence should be offered to Scotland now, denying them the opportunity to blame English Westminster. That said, the momentum to independence seems unstoppable. You don't need a calculator to work out how parliament would look without Scottish MP's either.#
Torygraph caveat etc, but John Mann Labour MP is saying the same thing
