Re: John sitton
He can just fuck off, the thin-skinned "Danny Dire"-style Cockernee Hard-nut.
Made a right cunt of himself with Johnny Vaughan, that time.

Re: John sitton
He started slagging him off for being a public schoolboy, Jonny got upset and didn't bring his dinner.
Then went on and on about it all through the show - very sensitive he was.
Sitton was a bit of a twat but I was surprised how fragile Vaughan was.
Doug probably has the clip in his archives.

Re: John sitton
Well, yeah, but Sitton went off on one right from the start of the interview. It was all very odd, as if he was determined to live up to his own puffed-up self-important "hard-man" image without regard to how "light-hearted" the show was supposed to be.Reg wrote:He started slagging him off for being a public schoolboy, Jonny got upset and didn't bring his dinner. Of course JV went on about it: wouldn't you, if you started a friendly conversation with someone you'd never met, and were greeted with a torrent of abuse?

I wasn't sure who he was, he sounded like a fucking imbecile.

What I mean is, I'm surprised he didn't just laugh it off, given how strange it was.JimmyDee wrote:Well, yeah, but Sitton went off on one right from the start of the interview. Instead he kept going back to it, as if he was genuinely hurt, or as if Sitton had touched a raw nerve.

I heard him, along with the audible sound of barrels being scraped in the decision room for hiring guests.

Re: John sitton
I think "torrent of abuse" is a touch over the top. All Sitton pointed out was that Jonny is actually a rather posh boy who went to public school, not the geezer he's made a career out of.JimmyDee wrote:Of course JV went on about it: wouldn't you, if you started a friendly conversation with someone you'd never met, and were greeted with a torrent of abuse?

Re: John sitton
I went in to Vaughan's Warm Up program not really liking him, but grew to love it and it was the highlight of the talkSHITE week at one point, but yes, he handled the Sitton call fairly over the top.
Sitton was obviously a hero to him, he had mentioned him before many times and I think why he continuted to roan on about it - much like Mike Graham after the infamous Jay Rayner incident - was probably the surprise and for JV, the hurt, it caused him, by being insulted by someone he probably seen as a hero.
I recall hearing Alasdair McGowan on H and J a while back saying ´Johnny Vaughan´ when asked if he had been accosted by any celebs unhappy at his impression of them.
I like Vaughan and his Warm Up was excellent, but he's obviously a bit tender when it comes to ribbing back at him or taking criticism.

Re: John sitton
I think Sitton believes Geoff Hurst ruined his chances at Chelsea, so when Vaughan innocently said he couldn't imagine Hurst acting the way he said he had, it tripped some kind of switch in Sitton's head.

Re: John sitton
Came across as quite thoughtful and intelligent, but very angry. Doesn't take much to get him riled up, full of life injustice's.
Had another emotional night thinking of @RIPGarySpeed and I don't think the feeling is ever going away.....
