To be fair it's the output I'm concerned about. I can see why people may get annoyed about pretend commentary, but the level of anger directed at Mr. Peters is odd, although pretty hilarious.

Lots of broadcasters, TV included, do commentary off tube. It's not really "pretend" - a commentary is a commentary.
