One of my favourites from, way way back in pre TS days, was when Miriam Karlin was being interviewed by the wonderfully arch Peter Deeley. Carlin was decrying cuts to Arts grants (remember when that used to happen, Christ, this was back in John Major's abortion of a term!) & she wailed that the cuts would mean, "the death of experimental theatre in this country!". Deeley, sarcasm dripping from every word, replied, "God yes, that would be a tragedy."
