Women who act are now called Actors

The PC BBC no longer use the word actress for some reason.

Is it not down to the preference of the individual? Anyway 'actor' does not accurately portray their importance in the world. I refer to them as 'artiste'.

Doctress?
Teacheress?
Politicianess?
Solicitoress?
Directoress?

Linguistic habits change all the time. Big deal. I still say "actress" out of habit but don't care if someone says "actor" instead.

Queer

Queer is an umbrella term for sexual and gender minorities that are not heterosexual or cisgender. Queer was originally used pejoratively against those with same-sex desires but, beginning in the late-1980s, queer scholars and activists began to reclaim the word.
