Au contraire. Just because he likes to shoehorn random phrases in French, into his script. He only does it pour encourager les autres. :)

I listen to the news on Radio 4 at lunchtime usually and it happened to be on after that.

I've yet to find a radio station that doesn't bore me or infuriate me.

Err. did write for The Times: https://www.sportsjournalists.co.uk/jou ... his-wages/

Likes his horses, not sure of fishing, and being in Norfolk writes now some country column for the EDP. As per H&J, The Prof sometimes tries too hard.

Used to find him a bit of a stuck up cunt, Carlos though obviously very cerebral and better quality of person than pondlife like Tony Evans.

Indeed. I was trying to find this link to one of my posts. The post seems to have gone to cyberheaven, fortunately the link remains.

Barnes moved to Norfolk "to enjoy the area's wonderful birds".

Perhaps Carlos can expand on this...

Ha, Reg. Barnes' Norfolk birds may not always satisfy him, same as my Norfolk birds. But there we differ. He has a column in the EDP. Whatever article I saw before in The Times, always agreed with H&J he was a somewhat pontificating sort, a try hard. Nay need for some Shakespeare or Greek in every article. Little and often, tease your readers. :0

But he was dogmatic. Simple and fair enough, he reported on sport at the highest level, talked shite most of it. So chilling in the rural areas still getting some coin ain't that bad. Simon Barnes,

He loves the sticks, allegedly. I'd say good to keep the writing going for him for the EDP, it's coin. Simon Barnes posing next to a horse. Simon Barnes looking pensive to a to a view in country casual. Simon Barnes knows. Does Simon Barnes care?
