Very true. I seem to remember soccer being an acceptable word for football back then. But, like many words that were used quite freely at the time, it seems to be considered insulting these days.

I have greatest respect for Rugby Union, they started it mid-way through the 19th century. Thankfully we grabbed it and turned it into a spectacle on 29th August 1895

Ant and Dec did a one-off Likely Lads..the No Hiding Place episode where they try to avoid hearing the England footie result.
Also remember Paul Merton trying to recreate Tony Hancock, but there has been a better Hancock reboot on radio. Could never
get Sid James right. He was unique.

Took me a long time to get over the withdrawal of Albion Market. I just hope they will bring it back one day.

Larry Lamb was on there too. Might actually see if they have the episodes on Youtube.

That should be consigned to the bottomless pit of shite tv programmes. William G. Stewart must cringe if he ever catches a glimpse of this travesty.

The appalling, dumbed-down modern day version of Mastermind can accompany it into the pit.

Indeed about 15-1. As regular readers may know, myself and old Dasboot were on 15-1 with William G (separately). No crap chat, straighti into the game and job done. Hence why will not re-apply. Don't want to tell shite anecdotes about myself on telly, can happily do that here
