Ha. That's uncanny. :)

Goffy is the only one I recognise out of that lot.

Are the others famous? :?
Err Austin Healy, the rugger man. Sadly heard of all of them. The Mecklenburgh girl from TOWIE is easy on the eye.

Old article from the Mail but some great comments about Goffy: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/ar ... cklenburnd

Some videos here: http://www.skoda.co.uk/about-us/cycling/tour-de-celeb including these two:

Bump for Goff and Meclkenburgh at 7pm on C5. Three hours of him on the wireless and then an hour on the telly, they're really spoiling us.

Spence mincing, Angelica crying about being on a bike and falling off. :) Great stuff.

Goffy all man, "train hard and reap the rewards".

Apart from Goff going off road and then wanting as Amy Williams says, "to beat a woman", a typical reality show intoducer.

Still, the journeys are noted, no pun, let's see how they go.

Why did goff go in the swimming pool with some kind of t-shirt on. I think he is self conscious of his body size

He said in his intro he was a barrel chested man. But yeah, snide for japes pushing his rival alpha male Healey into the pool was low.

But then Goffy has punched a teammate who was hands down having a piss allegedly. So a bit of form:

Goff on audio. Just a cowtailer with his left hand: http://talksport.com/radio/drivetime/bl ... aeme-swann

Watching this made me realise that what I'd really like to see is a fly on the wall documentary about lower level aspiring young pros and their life trying to make it.

A cycling fanatic at my gym knows the Yates family and from cycling holidays in Spain where the boys train, tells some really interesting facts about their lives as pro cyclists very much on their way up. I knew that this programme would not be anything like what the twins (Simon and Adam) do but it made me realise what I wish I were watching.

This was okay but is a reality TV show with the emphasis on drama (whether real, perceived or otherwise) accompanied by appropriate music and script constantly mapping out potential problems and making the most of real ones.

How on earth will Jodie Kidd be able to do the Etap with a torn ligament? But she tells us that she is going top do 'everything she can' to still do it.

I not sure I buy it. Maybe she'll have to pull out so I'll reserve further judgement but if she ends up doing the Etap, it will make me think that she never had a tear in the first place.

On the question about team building, instead of showing us a Tough Mudder event, how about showing us how the riders were / are trained to ride in a group with rotating leader? Not good enough or interesting enough TV?

All a bit predictable really with surprise, surprise, the ex pros (Goffee) getting competitive (all gets a bit tiresome) and the non sports people going on their 'journeys' as much figuratively than literally.

To make matters worst, I texted BIKE to whatever number they gave in the outside (very, very outside) chance of winning £5k

No, apparently (what can you believe or not on a scripted / edited reality show), he and Justin H. went on the piss with the lads when they were doing Dalalglio's Charity bike ride somewhere in Europe.

Cue lots of selfies and self proclaimed wonder at what a marvellous, cracking night they were all having.

Next day, they had to do a great long ride with big, long hills.

Half way up, Goffee went into meltdown.

But, he got back on his bike and finished it.

Did he pull out a wedge of brie from his arse crack at the end of the ride and force it up Adrian's ginger nostrils?

I'm ashamed to admit it, but I'm enjoying this series.
If Arsenal were playing in my back garden, I would draw the curtains.

My Cousin was a professional cyclist for 10 years or so from about the age of 19.

It is complete, total dedication. He was in a team that was say Brentford if team SKY are Man Utd.

Rich had some really bad injuries at really shit times which saw his roommate's Adam Blythe and Chris Froome progress to the top whilst he stood still (not just saying that!)

Unbelievably hard sport, fag papers between success and failure.

He finished 2 years ago now after being ran over by a team car, he now sniffs glue and sucks off dogs for heroin!! (He doesn't)

It is. I have got into it relatively late in life after I fucked up my achilles running too many marathons.

It is punishing, even at my level. A sportive is usually around 66 miles or 100 miles (you can choose which one you want to do). If you don't want to look a complete tool, the training you have to put in to compete seriously for your age group is an absolute killer.

Paradoxically, I really enjoy it, though. There is a Sportive called The Hampshire Hilly Hundred held every May. It does what it says on the tin. 100 miles of hills. It's a great challenge and the buzz you get when you finish is on a par to completing a marathon.

You might know my little cousins Steve.

Matt is still a very very good cyclist, he was British Elite level before he joined the Army and later the Met.

I think Richard is only rolling out at the moment on weekends, he has just got his 1st 'proper' job.

Both Matt and Rich live in the Pompey area.

I may well have cycled in the same events as them, Fug (ie: Hampshire Hilly Hundred, Isle of Wight Randonee)

But I suspect they are considerably younger than me

Think Matt is touching 40 and Richard is early 30's mate.

I used to time trial 10 and 25 miles, just to keep for fit my proper sport, managed 21m14 for 10 Mile and 51m02 for 25.

I have a condition called Spinal Muscular Atrophy so I can barely walk to the shop these days :-(

Shit mate :(

I'm really sorry to hear that, Fug. That's fucking awful.

Hope you are managing to cope with it. Well, as best as is possible.

It's not that bad, the thing that bothers me is I can't go for a run or play any sport.

I've always been shit at academic stuff, it bores the fucking life out of me as does listening to Beryl slagging off Mavis choice of nail varnish in the office because it day match her shoes.

Recently had to stop work so I though I would bore you lot to death instead!!
