The Story Of Skinhead-Don Letts

Post by Sid Pervcat »

Just caught this on i-Player.
Decent look at the roots of skinhead culture.
Presented by Letts in his usual cool laconic style.
Goes from the 60's to white power neo Nazis and everything in between.
Some nice music memories.
For those with an interest only..probably not worth a casual watch.
I enjoyed it.
I released the blob must to my darkest dread

But its mint choc chip which is the ice cream flavour of Satan's spermatozoa

Careful now, you’re being beastly to Leado and this canno he totlerated.

About to get underway at the Berbabeu

Saw it last week really enjoyed it,TBH ive always liked Don Letts
I have greatest respect for Rugby Union, they started it mid-way through the 19th century. Thankfully we grabbed it and turned it into a spectacle on 29th August 1895

Good programme - remember as a young kid being given a pair of those thin red braces by one of the early skinheads who lived a couple of doors down, and later when a little older, the fad for tonik trousers, sta-prest, laofers and brogues - all swept aside by long hair, baggy high-waisters and boots a year or so later. :)
BE NICE TO EACH OTHER.

IF YOU CAN’T SAY SOMETHING KIND, SAY NOTHING AT ALL.

LET’S MAKE talkFORUM FUN AGAIN!

I really enjoyed the program and yet it brought back shit memories of being Paki Bashed by NF Skin Heads. Learning to fight and then kicking the shit out of the cowards as they always wanted to fight in packs but never being able to stand up to you on a one to one basis. I loved SKA and I always wanted to watch Madness but because Sugss and co didn't have the heart to say no we don't like the Raist I never got a chance. Respect to Sham 69 and there lead singer. I did get to watch all the other SKA Bands and truly loved the music and style.

I do wish Don Letts had focused on Asian Skinheads/Rude Boys like myself.

ikhlaq - Madness are still going strong & just as good live as they always were. Different era now, you should see them. You won't be disappointed.

If Arsenal were playing in my back garden, I would draw the curtains.

Madness have become a cabaret act and slightly cringeworthy to watch.

I saw them a few years ago at Wembley Arena, Sid. they were excellent.

Mind you, that was when they still had Chas Smash

What happened to Suggs? He used to be on Absolute didn't he?
Please don't hoover up all the bollocks for yourself. Leave some for others.

I only ever this forum now and then Taslksport is really rubbish. As for the debate & discussion section I laugh at some of the views. I will try to get tickets to the Brighton Show as I'm only a half hour down the road. I watched the Clapham Common concert on the tv the other and the energy wasn't really there.
