As always, behind the curve when it comes to long running series and Ripper Street is another one. Series 4 is starting tomorrow and am keen on watching it as have an interest in Victorian London.
Has anyone seen this and if so, what are your opinions?

I'm shocked to learn of the amount of immigration that occured in the 19th century. Don't trust those Prussians.

Re: Ripper Street
It's pretty enjoyable. The three leads work well together. Jerome off Robson and Jerome's character is my favourite.
Think the premise has been stretched a little by the fourth series but it's still very watchable. Fifth series will be its last.

It is absolutely brilliant IMO, Mr. L.
Very atmospheric and evokes images of how we all perceive 19th century that London to have been like.
Either Robson or Jerome plays the role of sidekick to the main cop, Mr. Reid.
The first three seasons are on Netflix, if you use that at all.
I am recording these current programmes and will binge watch them some time in t' winter
Alex Young, Howard Kendall, Andy King, Timmy Cahill, Dixie Dean and Mike Parry.....we'll never see the likes of them again.

i can only echo what pet said, the only criticism i have is that in one close up scene, you could clearly see four white marks on a wall, where something had been blu tacced on the wall then taken down, ripping off the wallpaper.

Watched it tonight on the iPlayer. Struggled with parts of it as the murder of the rabbi was from the last series which I didn't watch but generally enjoyed it. Getting to understand the key characters but will probably have to read up on wiki about the background. Looks to be well made though and I'm sure I'll really get into it as the series progresses.
The one thing about the setting was that I know it was filmed entirely in Dublin but what was the purpose of the Irish music?

Id really recommend watching the earlier series if you can find them, there's a lot of backstory.kancutlawns wrote:Watched it tonight on the iPlayer.
