Rectify

Post by kevin04 »

Anyone watched or watching this?

Only seen one episode, but after finishing a few series over the festive period, needed something new and found this.

Pretty decent first episode, and will definitely check out the next one.

Enjoying the small bits so far ; actors relatively unknown, the sister smoking (not that I'm a smoker or encourage it, but you wouldn't see a woman in every scene doing this on mainstream TV), music - Bon Iver and Cat Power, and attention to detail -the sister's car not being a rust bucket or new either.

Young lead reminds me of Harry Connick Jr crossed with Jason Priestley.

Stick with it gets better and better.

It is very slow paced, even more than the Wire, but once you get use to the pace it's great. Season 3 from last year was brilliant

I'd go as far as saying it's in my top 20 programs of all time, best acting i've seen in years

I was raving about this on another thread. it's one of my absolute favourites. The acting is so sublime you really feel you're getting to know characters as actual people. I really can't say enough good things about it.

Finished Series 1.

Really good and agree, the acting is superb. I don't think I recognise any of the main cast either. Yet, 'The Stranger ' in episode five I think played Mary's brother in There's Something About Mary.

just finished watching Making a Murderer and it made me think of this show again. Rectify always played like something that could happen in real life and now I see why..

Kind of

Think it's on the AMC channel 192.... But I think you need a BT subscription for that

It's also on Netflix

Or on any reputable torrent site (via a proxy)

I don't see it on Netflix.

Are you not in the UK, PG?

I know there are programmes on Netflix in the USA and Canada which are not on Netflix UK.

Longmire among them.

And yes.....it us on AMC which I get on BT but which isn't a channel on Virgin.
Alex Young, Howard Kendall, Andy King, Timmy Cahill, Dixie Dean and Mike Parry.....we'll never see the likes of them again.

I am in the UK. But I saw it through erm other means

Just checked and it looks like it's only on Netflix America at the moment. I always assumed Netflix USA and the UK would have the same programmes

Just finished Series 2.

Brilliant and hopefully we'll crack in to Series 3 this weekend.

The acting is utterly superb. Whilst they are odious and dislikeable characters e.g the Senator etc. There are no bad actors. I hope they are going on to greater/bigger things especially Ted Jr, Daniel and Amantha.

Terrific tele.

I see that the fourth series will be the last one. I'm more than ok with that. I think the story is nearly told and just because it is slow doesn't mean it needs to be dragged out indefinitely.

Speaking of slow burning shows, started watching Treme yesterday. Liking it so far but then ditched it temporarily to start Show me a Hero, which is only six episodes long.

Ted Jr is an especially interesting character.

At first you might have dismissed him as nothing but a redneck bully but he is far from that.

Finished Show Me a Hero yesterday. Definitely recommend it. David Simon just has something special when it comes to TV shows. They are never predictable. Will go back to Treme fairly soon.

Finally up to date and finished Series 3.

Just brilliant. Acting, story, and although there's a few loose ends, ending it there might have been best.

The ending was perfect.

There's not one bad actor in this.

While I don't think this will end neatly I still want MORE. I just want to spend more time watching these people. Eight episodes in the final series but no airdate yet

I am three episodes into season two right now.

This is just top class, quality TV......well up to the standards of the top French and Danish dramas.
