New generation video games.

Post by colinthewarriormonkey »

WTF?

These cunts are now basically sticking a download link on discs. I've bought an XBOX one - and still cant play a game because the fucker is downloading 50gb at 3Mbps

That's fucking shithouse.

XBox One is a glorified marketing surveillance device designed to screw as much money out of you as possible.

I'll be sticking with my 360 for the foreseeable.

I also still occasionally play on my GameCube (yes, I was the one person in Britain who actually bought one)

I like it for the fact that it is now an entertainment hub, My blu ray player has now moved into my dining room for use with the projector, and while my TV is HD it isn't a smart TV so having all the TV catchup apps and Amazon instant all in onle place is pretty sweet too.

I bought Forza 5 for my boy (the upgrade is his present) and I'm still downloading it, although I must say that I'm not a fan of racing games, but this is fucking excellent, the graphics are great, but it is very, very responsive, you can make delicate moves easily which I always tended to overdo on the 360.

Xbone One sucks balls.

Although 'glorified marketing surveillance device designed to screw as much money out of you as possible'. as said in this thread sums it up nicely and all.

New gen consoles don't move the game on at all. The games are shinier, and that's all. I genuinely think the gaming device of the future is the PC now, seeing as these consoles are basically low powered PCs with no upgradibility, and consumers know this and are tech savvier than ever. It also points to this with the fact the PC version of GTA 5 is going to be bigger and better than all the console versions. Coupled with you dont have to be a nerd to understand PCs anymore they are just as user friendly as the Xbox interface.

For me, the consoles have blown it with this new generation.

Consoles aren't supposed to be at the bleeding edge of gaming, that's the job of PC gamers willing to upgrade their hardware and chew on the latest rubber bone developers are willing to throw you. There's no argument that a decent PC rig pisses over consoles in terms of performance but that isn't the point of them, the console battle is about convenience and rights to the living room not frame rates. As for the general public being more tech savvy, there will always be a market for a plug and play console despite it's limitations and those gamers that are really bothered about extra features available on new releases will no doubt have a PC. The challenge to both is the immergence of a new generation of linux boxes that'll be able to play cheaper PC games, have near PC rig performance but with the convenience and size of a console.

This isn't a fight I really care about so you'll just have to believe me when I say that not everybody gives a monkey about having all the add-ons to GTAV or being able to view the game in 4K at 60 fps, there are different types of user and I'm one of them.

My colleagues top of the range gaming pc cost £3k for the tower. I got the family an xbox one for £300. I respect your opinion and decision to go with a PC. despite having a different view point, I'll refrain from calling you an idiot.

I'm talking about the steam box. When that comes out, you will have to be stupid to pick a console over that. It'll be a high end PC in console form.

The New COD on the Xbox one, looks pretty fucking awesome I must admit, the micro expressions on Kevin Spaceys face are brilliant. Is it work upgrading from the 360 for that ? probably not but for me the Xbox one is more that a games console, it's my complete entertainment centre, all my media is on it, it's a bu ray player, Amazon prime in HD - and the voice controls are fun.

Just started playing Brothers : A tale of two sons . A great game free to download on xbox gold. I think more indie games like this will become popular in the future.

To be fair, Mark's colleague's PC probably has to be able to guide remote drones around the Middle East
