The million dollar question is, what more can chromecast give you? Someone give me the hard sell.

From my limited experience, the answer is, nothing. As far as I can see it's ok for iTunes and Netflix, BBC iplayer and BTSport, and any other app supported by chromecast (haven't bothere to find out which those might be), it's no good for catchup tv on any other channel. The only reason I got it was to watch rugby on BTSport via my iPad, it doesn't go off like the laptop does, if my TV liked the iPad i would have got the Apple connector for a few quid more, that way I could have
Replicated the iPad desktop (is that the correct word for an iPad screen?) to the TV.

The only advantage I can see is that you can use your iPad, and, I suppose, your laptop, at the same time as watching a film from Netflix, or, as today, watch Sarries getting no bloody where against Claremont

If you dont have a smart tv or games console, then for 30 quid you have a smart tv.
Gotcha. So it's a version of now TV etc. Have seen an advert with some talking into a controller. which seems quite cool.
Not really as far as I can see, with a NowTV box you get all the 5 catchup tv stations, Sky sport with a daily or weekly pay-to-view pass, quite a few kids channel, Fox News an d quite a lot of other things which I don't bother with,, with chromecast you only get iplayer and whatever apps it supports.
