Where did you get it for £20?
Im looking for one for my daughter for her Xmas stocking so she wont keep borrowing the one from downstairs for her bedroom. That one cost me 30 quid and was probably one of the best 30 quids i ever spent.

I've been considering getting one to connect the iPad to the telly, but, given that my telly doesn't seem to want to connect the ipad with an HDMI cable (see my previous query) would it connect with this gadget?

Ipads are iffy at the best of times with ogher stuff. Check online. Google is your friend.
If it is compatible, get one, their great and so easy to set up.

You can get them for under 20 quid on eBay, but are they genuine products? If they work good on you, but my sister bought a 'genuine' camera attachment and it turned out to be a tuppenny knock off, I had the same with Amazon, bought a 'genuine' Apple adapter which turned out to be any thing but, got my money back and the supplier didn't even want the product back.

I think the gadget should be ok with the ipad, a chap at BT advised be to get one, but I think the problem lies with my Toshiba, it doesn't seem to like the iPad, but as I said in the other thread, the iPad connects to,the kitchen telly OK.

Birdie, the Chromecast allows you 4 devices, i think. So if your laptop is playing up you can use your ipad or even your phone instead.

As long as your telly is within range of your wifi it should be fine, I use my iPad and iPhone with no problems.

I got one for Christmas, Ive not used it yet but We got my son and daughter one each and they love them..one with an Ipad and one with a Samsung Tablet...I'll use mine with Laptop to watch you tube stuff on TV..30 quid each from Amazon...Well worth it.

Check out the Sonos range of wireless speakers. They're utterly fantastic. As simple to set-up as Chromecast and a sound quality that's unparalleled in the wireless speaker market.

Got a set of Sonos 1's a year ago.

Well chaps, I finally bit the bullet and got one, so may I give you my very short experience of this gadget.

Once you've downloaded the app it's easy to setup using the iPadtoTV, which is what I wanted it for, I haven't worked out how tot connect multiple devices to it yet (stop sniggering at the back there), but I may work that out by this time next year.
You can't cast the ipad desktop only the apps which are supported by chromecast so you need the HDMI cable to do that.
At the moment only BBC iPlayer is available and BT Sport, not any other channel, so if you want to watch ITVplayer, 4OD or Demand 5 you have to connect the iPad with the HDMI cable, if your TV is capable, mine isn't.
A big drawback s that if you have it connected to the TV USB power you can't switch it off, meaning it's on all the time your TV is switched on, even on standby, so unless you have a handy wall socket you have to keep on disconnecting the darned thing, a bit of a bind if all your HDMI and USB ports are on the back of the telly and none on the side.
A big advantage is that once you have cast iplayer or BTSport, or whichever chromecast supported app you have chosen, you can still use the ipad (or whichever device you are using), I don't think tiumcan do,that using an HDMI cable, so,that's good.

On the whole, for what I needed it for, it works within its limitations, it doesn't do anything I wouldn't have been able to do had I been able to connect the iPad to thenTV, in fact it does rather less, but the real test will be at the weekend when watching BTSport.

Personally I recommend connecting it through an AV Receiver or Home Cinema Amp rather than a TV (just make sure your Amp can pass audio through HDMI as the older ones don't)

If you dont have a smart tv or games console, then for 30 quid you have a smart tv.

Gotcha. So it's a version of now TV etc. Have seen an advert with some talking into a controller. which seems quite cool.
